"Merry Christmas, Colten" his nurse said while walking him up. Colten grunted in exhaustion. "Five more minutes, Rose. Please." He said. "I'm afraid that can not happen today. You need to take your meds and get dressed. Your parents should be here soon." She replied sweetly. Colten sighed and got up. He took the medicine and water from Rose. "Colten. Take your medicine." She said sternly. Colten did as she said and Rose smiled and patted his head. When she left he got dressed and say back on his bed. He heard a knock on the door and looked over just as his parents walked in. "Hi sweetie" his mother said. "Hey buddy" his dad said, sitting next to him now. His mother pulled a chair in front of Colten from the wall. "We got you something." His mom said cheerfully. She pulled out of her pocket a bag filled with candy canes and mints. "We know how much you loved those. So we brought you some. Of course when we leave we have to take them with us." His father said. Colten just stared at the floor. He couldn't help but remember Holly. She always use to talk in that sweet voice. He began to cry. "Don't cry, Colten. It'll be okay." His mother said in the same tone. Colten cried more remembering everything about that night and the five years after too. "Did you take your medicine, honey?" His mother said worriedly. Colten nodded an answer and wiped his tears away. "Sorry." He said weakly. His mother pulled his father aside. I think he's getting worse. He heard his mom say. I think so too. His dad said. Colten began to cry again. "IF YOU WENT THROUGH WHAT I DID YOU'D BE THE SAME WAY! MAYBE EVEN WORSE!" Colten snapped. His parents looked at him in horror. And that was the last he'd seen of his parents.
