Scrimmages and actual basketball games had already started, but Vanessa and Justin hadn't been to one yet due to the stress of Midterms. Now that Midterms were over they were all in. Both kids were drained, but they definitely weren't missing this, especially since Dwayne was playing. Neither teens were aware he was even on the team, in fact most of Dwayne's gang was. Not all of them were starters though, due to the desire to bring diversity to the team. In a way, it was nice to know that the school did such things to make everyone feel included.

"Welcome back Westend High School!" An announcement began. Eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Welcome back? They hadn't even left for the break yet. We're messages really prerecorded?

"Excuse us, technical difficulties. MIDTERMS ARE OVER! This will be the last game before Christmas Break! We wish you a Happy Holiday. Let's play ball!" The Principal roared after he tapped the mic a few times and addressed the minor technical issues, causing Westend High School to roar back in unison.
Vanessa and Justin walked in hand in hand, warm smiles on their faces. Essentially, together they were a power couple. Although their relationship was to be discreet out side of school for now on, it was nice to know they could at least be themselves at school. Being the power couple only made sense, but Vanessa was still Vanessa and Justin was still Justin. Vanessa had no one besides Justin while Justin didn't geninuely have anyone besides the two boys he claimed as his best friends, that didn't attend the same school as him. Sure, Dwayne and his gang would come save the day if need be, but it it was unknown if it was constant.
The gym was half full and a full crowd was not expected due to the break. Maybe people were expected to be on the road traveling. Nonetheless, the turn out was a success so far. Vanessa's eyes scanned the gym, a smile still on her face. Justin followed her gaze and before he knew it, he was staring at Ryan.
Ryan had always been tech savvy; it was him. In every aspect possible, Ryan enjoyed photography and videography. He even helped manage a club based on it since videography wasn't apart of the same curriculum as photography. The class was filled with talented, aspiring videographers. Although, Vanessa and Ryan were no longer close, she still supported and admired his work. However, she didn't necessarily want to be a part of it anymore. There was no way she could avoid it though.

"Let's sit at the bottom?" Justin questioned, tracing a circle along the backside of her hand with a free finger. She sighed and eyed the crowd once more.

"Alright." She chimed and nodded in agreement. A shocking smile grazed over Justin's face as they found a spot. Justin knew she didn't want to sit so close to the court, but knowing her, she'd do anything for him.

"You go boy!" Justin cheered as he jumped from the bleachers causing Vanessa to laugh. Dwayne had made the final shot, with an assist from Griffin. To top it all off, it was a three. Vanessa clapped and the entire home side of the gym went ballistic. Peers ran down the bleachers and crowded the courts floor, patting the team mates back and simply cheering or engaging in some type of conversation with whomever.

"You cut your hair?" A voice called causing Vanessa to shift her attention from the boys and onto the voice. It was raspy and all too familiar.

Turning around she was face to face with Ryan who was holding his camera loosely in his hand with the strap wrapped around his neck.

"Yeah." Vanessa nodded somewhat nervous as she tucked a strain of wavy hair behind her ear.

"It looks nice." Ryan nodded.

"Thanks."

"Yeah. Merry Christmas." He nodded once more and with that he was off, lifting his camera up in the process to get a few more frames.

"Yeah, you too."

A/N: I'm so glad actual midterms are officially over for me. I've been so stressed and I still am.

If you're reading this, I hope you're having an amazing day.

I'm also sorry for the delay in updates, not really motivated right now. However, expected multiple chapters to come out during the break. I'm reaching for chapter 50!
