talia had gone back to the car entirely, but she hadn't stepped back into it yet. she was also curious as to what was happening with the three of us.
"alright, you two girls are the allen sisters? am i correct?", the stout policeman asked them. they nodded, still shivering with both fright and cold. i was currently holding penelope's hand, but you wouldn't know that if i myself didn't tell you so; it was pitch black dark outside, the only light now radiating from the policeman's flashlight, adding to the still dimly lit street lamps. i had made my own guesses that we had made it a few miles from the building that everyone was held hostage in, just by running on foot. none of us felt safe enough to be out of breath, so we hadn't stopped.
the policeman rested his gaze on me, and my breathing hitched. i felt
him staring a hole straight through me as i fixated my vision on a spot on the ground."Now...Talia, Ben, and Winston never mentioned a boy who was missing."
i couldn't speak.
he rested his flashlight upon my face and gasped once he had fully taken in my features. i heard him whisper something about needing backup into his walkie talkie, and then he directed the girls to stand back. he neared dangerously close to me, and with a husky whisper said:
"i need to question you further back at the department, we have letters reguarding warrants for your true arrest. come with me."
he led me to the car, handcuffed, and put me in the seat. i went in willingly, fighting this wouldn't help at all.
he closed the door and i looked out the window. the girls were crying, all three of them. the backup cop arrived shortly and took them with him.
here we go.
