Thieves

Introduction

"You're useless kids," Dad yelled from downstairs. Lexi and Maria looked at each other afraid. Most people love and cherish their family, but Lexi and Maria hated their parents.

They heard their father crash into things as he stumbled up the stairs. Once he had reached the top the smell of alcohol filled the room. "I saw the TV was left on when I got here!" He yelled.

"Sorry sir," Maria said with her head down.

"Sorry sir," he mimicked, "I am not raising slobs, or that's what I thought until now!"

He walked over to Lexi and slapped her face leaving a red mark. He shoved her out of the way probably leaving a bruise.

Once he got to Maria he yanked at her hair. "I am the king of this family and you will respect me!" He yelled.

Lexi laughed in her head how childish he sounded but his facial expression was terrifying. When the Devil had left the house their mother came in the house.

What a great day. Note the sarcasm.

She had a stranger with her and they went to Mom and Dad's room. "Ugh, we need to get out of this place!" Maria said.

"Thats like trying to escape a void in time," Lexi mumbled.

Maria ignored her sisters remark and grabbed a suitcase and started putting all of her belongings in it. A shirt, pants, and a necklace. Maria also had grabbed all of Lexi's items and put them in the suitcase.

"Please Lexus," Maria begged noticing her sisters doubt.

"Wellllllllllll.... I guess I'll try," she said quietly.

Maria hugged her and the two went downstairs. They grabbed four water bottles and some food. Maria got on her dad's motorcycle and started the engine.

"Wait, Maria we should get some money," Lexi said before leaving. When she returned she had Mothers purse.

"We could've stole," Maria said rolling her eyes.

"Keep rolling your eyes, maybe you'll find a brain," Lexi said.

Then Maria started the bike and the two left the house. They had their mothers licence and thank the Lord they looked like her.

The two's mother was only in her 20s. Once they had no has in the bike they ditched it on the side of the road. The two walked for 10 miles until a car stopped by them.

"Um... hello?" A nice women asked.

"Hi," Lexi tyres to say but it came out as just a grunt.

"Hello," Maria said keeping her voice.

"Um.. what are you two doing on the streets of Berkshire?" The lady asked.

"Walking," Lexi mumbled where no one could hear.

"Well we... we don't have any parents we live in the streets," Maria lied.

"Well, would you two like to stay the night?" The lady asked. She's to gullible, Lexi thought.

"Yes," Maria said.

That was the one word Lexi dreaded hearing.  Goodbye normal life, she thought.
