AMANDA, suspicious, mid-twenties, short;
GABRIEL, confused, year younger then AMANDA, tall
Setting: In a kitchen with deep sinks, a small table with a bowl on it to the right, which represents a table by the backdoor, a counter by the sinks. A large old fashion phone sits on a center table. There are no dishes. The sinks can be seen from a side view. The characters do not communicate well. They seem to talk around each other with few direct questions answered.
The wife is at the sink as her husband comes in to greet her, as you will. The wife looks at her husband with an odd look yet says nothing.
GABRIEL: What is it babe?
AMANDA: (Pauses and looks around to see if any one hears her while saying the first word. The second word is whispered) She. Knows.
GABRIEL: (Confused. Feels his clothes.) Babe, have you seen my keys?
AMANDA: How did she find out? I tried everything to hide it from her.
GABRIEL: (Looks at the counter where the wallet should be.) Maybe they're next to my wallet.
Babe, where's my wallet?
AMANDA: (Turns toward husband away from sink.) What?
Telephone Rings.
AMANDA: What did you just ask me?
GABRIEL's hand is slightly over phone.
AMANDA: (Points to phone. Speaks each sentence between the rings while pointing.) Don't answer it! Do not answer that phone!
GABRIEL: (Hand still slightly over phone. Begins to pull away, slowly. Telephone Rings. A third time.) Why?
Telephone continues to ring between dialogues.
AMANDA: Your wallet is on the table by the door.
GABRIEL: (Goes to the table, looks in the bowl. The wallet is in there. The keys are not.) Babe, my keys aren't over here.
AMANDA: (Looks at counter for purse.) You asked about your wallet not your keys. Your keys are in my purse.
GABRIEL: Where's your purse?
Telephone stops ringing
AMANDA: (Spins around looking for her purse; stares at counter.) Oh crap. Ohhhh crap. Crap. Crap crap crap crap crap.
GABRIEL: (Tries to look his wife in the face.) Why crap? Crap is bad. Should I be worried?
AMANDA: (Not looking her husband in the face. Emphases on two words: the second knew and how.) I knew she knew. But I didn't know how she knew.
GABRIEL: (Speaks slowly and carefully.) Who is she, and what does she know?
AMANDA: I left my purse in her office. That's how she knows.
GABRIEL: Who's office?
AMANDA: My... boss's office. I can't believe I did this!
GABRIEL: (Clearly frustrated.) What the hell were you doing in there AMANDA?
AMANDA: (Speaks quietly) Transferring funds on her computer.
GABRIEL: (Starts to speak louder and with more force.) Who's funds and into who's account?
