~Jazmine~

Bella. Sam.

My eyes glow and I grab a dagger before walking out of the house. My feet hit the ground faster with each step until I reach a full on sprint.

Bella! Sam!

I move faster and jump through trees, my eyes getting brighter.

Bella. Sam!

I stop in the middle of the woods.

"She didn't make it." Bella's dead.

Renesme. Sam!

I start walking again moving toward the Cullen's house.

"He's still my son."

"I hate to tell you Billy." Watch it Sam. "Bella's dead."

I shake my head and start running my speed getting faster with each step. I ignore what I hear and force myself to stay focused.

Stop him!

I jump the ravine between the territories and try to speed up.

SAM!!!!

I put myself in between the old pack and the Cullens. The dagger appears in my hand and it slowly moves toward my neck.

"This ends now, Samuel. If you kill the child, you kill me. You know what will happen if you kill me. Emily would never forgive you, you would be torn limb from limb. Is that really something you want?" He slightly moves forward and the blade breaks skin. I remain emotionless as I do this.

"Sam can't hurt her. As long as Jazmine honors her code, Sam can't hurt her. Imprinting is their most absolute law." Edward says as Jake moves beside me, growling at Sam.

"So what's it going to be Samuel?" I ask. He hesitates and the blade pushes further into my skin. He slowly steps back and the dagger disappears. My hand falls to my side as the wolves run away. I place a hand on my neck and slowly moving it away. Blood. I feel it start to heal and I pull a flask from my pocket and drinking some of the contents. I put it back and face the Cullens. "Bella should wake up soon. I can feel it." I state strongly.

"Why'd you do that?" Alice asks.

"Nous protégeons cuex qui ne peuvent pas se protéger eux-mêmes." Is all I manage to get out.

"He almost didn't change his mind Jazmine. You would have died." She states. I make my eyes glow and straighten my form.

"Then I would have died with have doing my job." I state, my words seeming to be pure for the first time in a while. "I would have died being the first huntress in a millennium to have actually followed the laws they set." My voice gets stronger. "I would have died honoring my code."

I stand in front my band of hunters, waiting for all of them to gather. Devonté, Lydia, Danielle, and my mother stand on either side of me. Once they are all in the room I straighten my form, my arms behind my back, like a soldier at attention.

"The events that took place to night made me realize something very important." I begin, looking only at the wall in front of me. "Code is to be treated like law, and so it shall. In a few days, when more recruits arrive, we will train and prepare for the battles that lie ahead of us. We will follow code like it hasn't been done for the past millennium. I am tired of sitting around and doing nothing while countless others have fought for us and died because of it. Every single one of you is to stay below the radar until I give orders otherwise. Anyone who does not will be punished severely." I pause. "Nous protégeons cuex qui ne peuvent pas se protéger eux-mêmes. We protect those who cannot protect themselves. I will not sit around and watch my people die anymore! Let this be your one and only warning, for I am no longer going to let things slide. If you want to fight and die for something, go ahead, make sure that something is something with purpose! If you want to fight and die just to say you almost killed a beast is pure arrogance! I will not tolerate even the thought of that! If you want to fight and die to honor your code, if you want to truly be a hunter or huntress, that's fine by me, but I will not lead you into something that you may not return from forcefully. If you do not wish to stand by me, that's fine. If you still stand beside me, don't do it because you want to be able to say you killed a beast or two, do it for something meaningful. If you still stand with me, do it for honor! Do it because you actually give a damn! If you still stand by me do it because it is what you want. If you still stand with me, do it with honor! If you no longer wish to stand by me, right over there is the door." Nobody moves. "Tenez-vous avec moi pour l'honneur. Je suis et serai toujours un homme de ma parole. Si vous voulez combattre et mourir pour quelque chose, assurez-vous qu'il est quelque chose de significatif." (Stand with me for honor. I am and always will be a man of my word. If you want to fight and die for something, making it for something meaningful.)

"Pour l'honneur. Pour le code." (For honor. For the code.) Matthew says stepping forward.

"Pour l'honneur!" A chorus breaks out as they all step forward, showing that they all still stand with me.

"Pour Jazmine, une véritable chasseresse, un chief, un protecteur." (For Jazmine, a true huntress, a leader, a protector.) My mother says raising a fist.

"Pour la liberté." (For freedom.) I whisper to myself.
