On The Seventh Day Of Christmas, Santa gave to Me... A fights versus Alpha.
Warning : A lot of dialogues. I hope you don't get confused. But the dialogues are all alternate for each person unless stated otherwise, so I think it's easy enough to understand. =)
XxRhysxX
The door is slams open in fury as Alpha Kyle steps into the house. He scans the room and finally his anger blazed eyes finds me. "Why didn't you say she's a human?! " Kyle lunges forward and grabs my throat. "She's going to be a Female Beta for f***'s sake! You know we've been trying to avoid all this shit!"
Delilah holds his bicep. "Kyle," she says in a soothingly calm manner. "Please put him down, Kyle. You two can discuss this in meeting room. Go. I'll look after Mckenna."
Kyle lets me drop to the ground. "Meeting room," he says.
"Yea, Alpha," I say.
I follow Kyle into the room and he locks the door behind us.
Kyle glares at me and slams him palms on the table. "So, now what ? You're the Beta of this pack and your mate is a pure human. She is the only one human here, Rhys. And you know how I can't tolerate these filthy humans," he sneeres.
"So you expect me to just dump her?" I ask him, outraged.
"I know you can't, but-"
"No 'buts' ,Kyle. She's my mate. I can't abandon her."
"You haven't started the mating process, have you?"
I look down. "No, we haven't. It just so happens that i just explained all this to her a few days ago, the same f*****' day she got kidnapped."
"It will be easier to reject her when you still haven't done the process, Rhys."
"Wait. Do you really think we're discussing how we're going to get rid of her?! NO! She's mine ! You can't interfere with us, even if you are the Alpha. How would you like it if someone asked you to get rid of Delilah? "
He hesitates. "Then, what do you expect me to do, huh? I would never want a human to be a part of my pack. The purer we are, the stronger we are," Kyle says with a glint of madness in his eyes. Power. He's hungry for power.
"Then I'll turn her. That's what you want, right? For the pack to be pure? "
"Turning her won't make any difference to me." Kyle scowls.
"But it will be the difference if the world to Mckenna ! Who are you to decide for her?"
"I will be her Alpha. In fact, since she already knows about all this, I am already her Alpha."
"Really, Kyle?! What are you thinking ?! Is this what you want? Control and power? Mckenna has a say in this to. It's her life, her body. It will be her choice. Mckenna-"
"Mckenna will have ro learn to follow orders, Rhys. You can't protect her forever. She will have to make sacrifices for the pack sonner or later."
"Sacrifices? You're talking about f*****' sacrifices?!" I look at him incredulously. "She almost died today, Kyle! And from what I remember, you didn't look like you hesitated to help her, huamn or not. It's all in your head, Kyle. We can be strong if we want to. We'll just have to make an effort."
"It wouldn't be the same," Kyle mumbles, still not giving up.
"F***ing hell, Kyle! Do you hear yourself?! What's more important- your wolf family or the pack's strength?" I ask. Kyle hesitates. I have a bad feeling that Kyle would choose the latter. Would he? Maybe he's not as power-crazy as I thought? "So. Which one is more important to you? Is it the power and strength?"
Kyle does not reply. His mouth is set into a grim line. His face is furrowed in deep concentration. What is there to possibly think and analyse about ? This question is as easy as asking what your name is. The answer should be at the tip of his tongue, yet he keeps quiet.
The almighty Alpha remains silent for a while. "Both is important. I need both," Kyle says. He finally answers me but the answer is definitely not what I was expecting him to say.
"What has happened to the compassionate and wise Kyle I know as not only an Alpha but also a good friend? Why are you doing this, Kyle?"
"The pack has needs, too," he answers with an impassive expression. "You just have to make a choice, Rhys. Do you want to be in the strongest pack in history, or do you want to play family with your new mate?" His voice turns deep and deathly. The Alpha in Kyle takes over him.
He is making me choose between Mckenna and him? Oh boy, he just doesn't realize how obsessive he sound right now. It's like he's an over-protective and obsessive girlfriend on period .
"Why do I have to choose? Just because you're the Alpha doesn't mean everything has to come so easily to you. Why don't you think of others? Rethink what you said to me; you want me to choose my mate over my pack. How ridiculous does that sound?" I huff in annoyance.
"You made me choose between my family and my pack just now," he defends.
I did not ! "No. I asked you to choose between your wolf family which includes all of your pack or your pack's strength and power. It's family versus power, Kyle. Choosing between my mate and my pack is a different thing. You, of all people should bloody well know that." I think of Delilah and Kyle. Kyle never had to make this decision.
I think long and hard about how to overcome this shit. I come up with the only solution that might or might not be the best decision ever. It will either end up happily ever after or down in hell.
"If you choose power over family, then my choice is mate over pack," I whisper hopelessly.
"What?!" Kyle looks at me in horror.
I sigh in defeat. "Face it, Kyle- if you make me choose pack over mate, I'm practically dead anyway. I'll be lifeless and torn- Depressed."
"Fine. Keep her," Kyle snarls. "You are suspended from Beta duties until she recovers. Then, we'll decide what to do."
I nod. I think better than to pick another fight with Kyle. "Thank you, Alpha."
"You may go, Rhys."
"Kyle- remember not to let the desperation of power get to the best of you," I say. I walk out of the room after bowing my head in respect. The thoughts of Mckenna floats through my mind and I'm running the hallways to the kitchen.
"Rhys?" A dry and rough voice stops me in my tracks. My eyes widen a fraction and I let go a breath that I didn't realize I have been holding. I smile in relief and walk towards her- my sweet angel, my mate.
"Hey." I smile down adoringly at Mckenna and put a hand to the side of her pale face. "How are you, angel?"
"'Angel?'" Mckenna chuckles. "What- are we at nickname basis now?" She jokes.
I chuckle at her remark. "How are you?"
"How are YOU? I heard some shouting a moment ago. Is everything alright?" She reaches for my hand and looks at me worriedly. I grasp her small delicate hand in my rough larger one.
I sigh. "Yeah. Never better. As long as you're with me, I'll be fine." I kiss her forehead tenderly. "Get some rest, angel."
Mckenna smiles but has a confusing look on her. Oh, how I long to make her smile reach to her eyes- make her the happiest girl in the world. As long as I have Kyle's power-craze breathing down my neck, I will never have the freedom with Mckenna I yearn for.
