A/N: Will be based off both the movie and the book, so look out and pay attention to the details

I don't own the book or the movie, only the events created by me

This first chap. takes place right after the trio leave the Nightly Double, after running into Bob and Randy, getting into a near fight stopped by Cherry....

Ponyboy's Point of View

We walked on home, mostly in silence.

I wanted to ask Johnny if those were the same Socs that had beaten him up, but I didn't mention it.

Johnny never talked about it and we never said anything.

"Well, those were two good-lookin' girls if I ever saw any." Two-Bit spoke as we walked.

He took a piece of paper out of his pocket and stuck it in his mouth and spit it out.

"What was that?" I asked, pulling out a cigarette as we walked up to Johnny's house.

"Marcia's number. Probably a phony one, too. I musta been outta my mind to ask for it. Girl like that wouldn't ever go out with me anyway. Where y'all goin'?" Two-Bit asked, right before a hat blew along the road from the wind and he chased after it, laughing.

"Whoa! Got me a new hat!"

I laughed as he put it on, trying to look tuff.

"You're crazy...." Was all I could say, smirking at him.

"I dunno why the hell I handed you that busted bottle," Two-Bit said, standing in front of me with his new hat. "You never woulda used it."

"I dunno, I might have," I shrugged, though I wasn't sure if would've.

Johnny walked up in front of his house, hands in his pockets of his jacket while Two-Bit and I spoke.

"Where ya headed?" I asked.

"I dunno. Might jus' stick with you kids a bit. Figured I wouldn't get drunk for the ol' lady...." Two-Bit shrugged as Mrs. Cade opened the door to yell at Johnny, telling him to "get outta here!" and went back to yelling and arguing with her husband.

I seemed sort of odd to me that Two-Bit wasn't eager to go home or spend time with his girlfriend Kathy or go to Buck's or do whatever it is Two-Bit does.

But I guess I didn't mind.

He gave a small grin and I nodded shortly at him, glancing at Johnny who hesitated in front of his house for a minute before he finally turned.

"Man, I hate when my folks fight. Let's go to the lot." He turned away quickly and I followed, Two-Bit directly beside us.

"Good choice, Johnny." He said softly, placing an arm on his shoulder.

We walked over to the vacant lot, keeping quiet as I smoked my cigarette.

Two-Bit had his hat on his head and I wanted to tell him he looked funny with his hair sticking out in front, but I didn't.

Johnny didn't say anything, but that wasn't out of the ordinary.

We all sat down against the long couch cushion propped up against a tree and Johnny lit a fire.

I rubbed at my arms from the cold, shivering as I looked up at the stars.

Two-Bit sat next to me, stretching out his arms and legs, getting comfortable.
