A teen with brunette hair is sitting in her father's car talking him before school:
"Selina dear, are you nervous about meeting Professor Ozpin?"
"No dad, I'm fine. I'm actually excited to see my new Headmaster."
"Well, he hasn't accepted you yet."
"Yeah, I know. But I have a no doubt he'll accept me."
"Confidence is the key in any situation, but don't let that turn into arrogance. Am I understood?"
"Yes Dad, I understand. I'll do all I can to make the best impression," Selina said with a wink.
"I have faith in you," he said turning into a parking space. "Come on then, let me take you to his office," her father said getting out of the car. He walked over to Selina's door to open it for her. Selina nodded and put her earbuds away before taking his hand. They grabbed her bags and walked to Beacon side by side, a suitcase in either hand.
When they got up to the elevators they exchanged a quick hug and her father took her bags before leaving Selina to ride the elevator up to Professor Ozpin's office.
When she reached his office, the doors opened revealing the silver-haired Headmaster waiting for her at his desk. He rose to greet her and he was met with a tight hug from Selina. "Hey Ozzy, it's been awhile. Did you miss me," she said energetically. Selina was shocked and quickly pulled away before rapidly apologizing:
"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry Professor Ozpin, I don't know what came over me," she apologized with a worried expression.
"I see, well, as long as you don't make a habit of that, there is no need to worry. Please have a seat," he said chuckling. He motioned to the seat in front of his desk for Selina to take.
"Of course sir... thank you..." she said sitting down quickly, her posture was straight and proper.
Ozpin had a seat as well and continued, "Now Miss Oobleck, I understand that you would like to become one of my students..."
"Yes sir, I would love to be admitted to Beacon Academy," Selina said eagerly.
"And why here and not study in Atlas. You were there weren't you... wouldn't going there be a more logical decision?"
"Well, I suppose when making a decision based on location... Atlas would be the logical choice. But I don't feel that Atlas Academy's a good fit for me."
"Elaborate on that if you will?"
"I never felt that a militaristic lifestyle would suit me and I have no intention of involving myself with the Atlas military."
"I see... could another reason be that you are more comfortable in the kingdom in which you were raised?"
"That's exactly right. And don't worry about me being the daughter of one of your professors. I've already asked my father not to treat me differently from the other students."
"I wasn't going to imply that but I'm glad you've worked that out ahead of time. Now I read your transcripts and it says your semblance is 'good luck'. Please explain that to me."
"Well, my semblance is just as the name implies good luck," Selina said innocently.
"I understand that but how does it work," Ozpin elaborated.
"I'm not exactly sure. I haven't managed to harness its benefits, but whenever I'm in trouble, I have a stroke of good luck that helps me get out of trouble," she explained.
"What are some examples if you don't mind," he asked tentatively.
"I don't mind at all. Some examples are..." she stopped to think, "there was this one time where I was lost in the Emerald Forest and I happened upon a guide that showed me the way through. There was also the time I was lost in Atlas Academy and General Ironwood helped me find my father. There are also some instances when I fight but it would take to long to explain the context."
"Interesting... One more question. Why do you want to become a huntress?"
Selina contemplated a way to accurately tell the silver-haired Professor, "...When I was younger I remember wanting to be... just like the amazing heroes I would see protecting the kingdoms... I guess my reason is to follow my childhood dream of being like heroes I saw. I want to protect those who are helpless... to protect themselves."
"Well you do have the drive to become a huntress and your transcripts are rather impressive," he let out a chuckle, "I would be glad to have you as a student... welcome to Beacon." he smiled. Standing up, he put his hand out for her to shake.
"Really?!" she shouted excitedly shaking his hand enthusiastically, "Thank you so much, sir. I look forward to starting tomorrow."
"Now since you're starting two weeks later, I need to assign you to a set team...The selection will be random and there will be no changes," he said setting up a randomizer with all the established first-year teams.
"Okay," she said looking at the computer. 'I hope I don't get stuck with a team weaklings.' as she thought this, the computer picked a team for her.
"You will be a part of Team CRDL, an all-male group. Do you have problems being in a team of all males?"
"No, I sure I'll be fine." She said on the outside, but on the inside, she was assessing the team's looks. 'The one at the end looks kinda cute,' she thought to herself.
"Please come to my office," Ozpin said to an image of a blonde woman on a hollow-screen. He then called to Selina who was still looking at her new team on the Hollow-screen. "Selina..."
"Yes sir," she said instinctively, having been pulled from her thoughts.
"... I've asked Ms. Goodwitch to escort you to your dorm." He announced just as the elevator doors opened to reveal the blonde woman. She stepped up to Selina and spoke:
"Are you Miss Oobleck?"
"I am but... I'd be grateful if you referred to me as Selina Black instead of Selina Oobleck so that I'm not seen as the daughter of one of the professors..." she said hopefully.
"I see why you'd want to do that. Professor Ozpin, what do you think?"
"I see no harm in the name change. From now on you will be Miss Selina Black."
"Follow me then, Miss Black." Selina nods and follows Glynda to the elevator. She managed to wave goodbye to Ozpin before the doors closed.
"So Miss Black, I'm told you will be joining Team CRDL. I feel that I should warn you about those boys. They are known on campus for bullying students. I advise you to avoid their influence or your reputation will suffer."
"Don't worry Ms. Goodwitch. I don't plan on letting anyone influence me. I'll adapt to dealing with them sooner or later," she answered looking away with a snicker, 'I would never act like those idiots. How stupid to be given a reputation for such a thing.'
Glynda went on to explain Selina's classes and what she should do to catch up with the curriculum. Since classes had started about two weeks ago she would have a lot to catch up on, but her dad had helped her with most of the work, so she was caught up on everything for the most part.
After finally arriving at Team CRDL's room, Glynda told her to be careful before leaving. Selina assured her that she would before taking a deep breath and knocking on her new team's door. A tall boy with dark blue hair was the one to answer the door:
"Um, who are you," he asked confused
"I'm your new teammate."
"Hey Lark, who's at the door" shouted a voice from inside.
"Some girl saying she's our teammate."
"Move so I can see." the boy at the door opened the door and moved aside to reveal the brunette to the rest of the team.
