I wake up and remember it's Evie's birthday "Crap!" I yell out  loud waking up Eric. I didn't mean to wake him but I knew it was to late once I yelled. "What's wrong? What happened?" Eric asks kind of tiredly and shocked as he sets up straight in the bed blinking his eyes open and blinking the sleep away. I pause and and apologize "Sorry I woke you up." I say with an apologetic look on my face. "Why did you yell? What's wrong?" He asks me "Nothings wrong...It's just that today is Evie's birthday and I forgot to get her something. She never makes a big deal out of it but when I don't do anything for her she looks sad and I don't like seeing her sad" I say looking at him as I explain. Eric adjusts himself in the bed more still tired "Well if you really want to we can walk over to the store and look around for a present for Evie before anyone wakes up." Eric says with a sympathetic  smile. I smile back at him and then lean over to hug him tight. "Thank you" I manage to mumble into his shoulder as he hugs me back. We get up and manage to get dressed in fresh clothing then we slowly walked out of the bedroom trying not to wake them up. We quickly ran out the door and out onto the sidewalk.

I smile at Eric as we walk out way down to Wal-Mart. "So what does Evie like?" Eric ask me as he sticks his hands in the pockets of his letter man jacket. "Well she likes mint gum, sunglasses, jean jackets, and dogs stuff like that."
I say as he laughs a little "So basically my brother with a dog." he laughs as he says t and I start laughing to "Basically. Yeah." I say with a smile as we both laugh. We are only a few feet away from the doors as we see Charley and Claire coming out of the store with bags in their hands. Claire and Charley look over at us and they wave, still holding the bags, and walks towards us. "Hey guys, shopping for Evie's birthday?" Claire asks as we both nod in unison "We forgot too. She never mentions it so its hard to remember sometimes." Claire says with a smile "I know, sometimes she's doesn't even celebrate it." I say back to her " Well hope you find a good gift for her." She says as they both walk to Claire's sister's car putting away the bags in the trunk, we smile and head in.

I walk straight to the card area and grab the first one that is for a birthday and that has a dog on it and we grab a gift bag and tissue paper for the gift we will get. Next we walk around and look for a present.
"What do you want to get her?" I ask Eric he shrugs and walks around some more. We get to the area of the store where there is candy and toys. We split up to find a present for her. We meet up and Eric has a box that looks like a pirate's treasure box and packs of mint gum. I laugh and show him what I had found. It was a bulldog stuffed animal with sunglasses and a leather jacket on. Eric thought it was the cutest thing ever. We go to the self checkout and buy our items. We rush out the door and head to Eric's house. On our way over we put the gum packs in the box and put it in the bag along with the stuffed dog and birthday card we had signed. We walked in say the bag with Evie's name we written on it and put it on the kitchen table. We then went back upstairs and back to bed for a few more hours of sleep.

I was woken by a hug from Evie and I tiredly hugged her back. "Thanks for the birthday present" she says to both of us as Eric still slept soundly and walked out the bedroom to the kitchen. I woke Eric back up and we both said "happy birthday" a little groggy as sleep pulled at our eyes. We went downstairs for breakfast. I saw Evie sitting at the table chewing on gum and hugging her stuffed dog close to her like a little kid would; I couldn't help but smile a little. I saw Peter making coffee and breakfast as usual. "Hey" Evie says with a grin. "Hey" I said back realizing I was still wearing the clothes I wore to Wal-Mart. I looked over at Peter "So what ya get Evie for her birthday" I ask him "Oh I'm taking her out on a date and were going to a fancy restaurant. Then I'm taking her wherever she wants to go." He said smiling at her. She looked at him with an even bigger smile on her face. We heard a knock on the door and Evie got up to answer it. I followed Evie out dragging the still tired Eric along with me.
