Nursing Job

It was your first time working at a mental institution. You were going to be the primary nurse for their newest patient, Randle Patrick McMurphy, or 'Mac' as he was often called. You thought nothing of it, you would just be helping to take care of him and the other patients.

You quickly got dressed in your nursing outfit, ate, then left for work. It was a short half hour drive to work 'Not too bad.' You thought. As you were headed towards the door two gentlemen were escorting another man to the door.

The man was wearing a black jacket and a black beanie and seemed to be in handcuffs. He noticed you and smiled at you "Hey, you guys think I could go talk to her?" The man asked. The two gentlemen seemed to think it over before allowing him to approach you with his handcuffs still on his wrists.

"Wait up sweetheart." He called after you. You patiently waited for him "Hi." You greeted. "Hello." He replied with a smirk. "What's your name?" He asked sweetly. "Y/N L/N, what's your name?" His smile grew "That's a beautiful name you have there Ms. L/N. The name's McMurphy, Randle McMurphy." He replied.

'So this is the patient I'll be taking care of, then?' You thought. "You cold doll?" He asked. "No, I'm okay. Thanks anyway though." You replied. He nodded 'At least he's polite.' You thought.

You were expecting someone more... Aggressive considering he'd been in jail a few times for assault. Five fights in total, by that you were expecting him to be rude and aggressive but you weren't complaining.

Once the pair of you reached the door he surprised you yet again by holding the door open for you. "Thanks." "You're very welcome doll." He said with a smile. You were led to an office where you waited for McMurphy where he would be told as to why he was there.

Once he walked in the door he grinned at you "Well, hello again doll. What brings you here?" "Ms. L/N is going to be your nurse Mr. McMurphy." His grin grew "Wonderful." He said in an ominous tone.

The discussion consisted of telling Randle that he would be held for evaluation to see if he was actually mentally ill or if he was faking it. They also discussed some charges against him in the past, five counts of assault and... He apparently r*ped a fifteen year old girl, but claimed she told him that she was eighteen.

You made a mental note to be cautious of him and to do your best to not make him angry. After the meeting McMurphy had pulled you off to the side. "No need to worry doll, I'll be good to you. I promise, stay safe sweetie." He said. Before leaving he kissed your cheek making you blush.

You hadn't expected that, perhaps you just remind him of someone he knew well. That could explain it, perhaps you just remind him of a past lover. This happens to people all the time, just a case of mistaken identity is all.
