Sleeping Bella's room was strange. It was only a two bedroom, so unless she wanted to camp out in the living room this was the only option. At least this was free – the fees at the hotel were adding up. Charlie had arranged to be there at the house for most of the next few days, letting her adjust until she left. She had packed light, which she was semi regretting now.

Currently, the two were lounging in his living room, slouched back in the chair and her resting on the couch with her feet propped up on the coffee table as she scrolled through her phone.

"What are you thinking about doing the next few years?" Charlie asked, eyes still focused on the game but seeming interested in her answer.

Adelina made a small noise. "I don't know. College didn't work out this year so probably just continuing to save up money until next year."

"Any field in particular?"

Twisting her hair around her finger, Adelina replied after a few seconds. "Maybe medical? It's a lot of school but I think I would be happy helping people."

Chuckling, Charlie finally looked over at her. "I'm not trying to reel you into staying here, but Carlisle, Edward's father, is one of the best doctors I've ever seen. We're honestly lucky to have him here in a small town like this. It might be a good idea to at least talk to him."

"That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea," she mused. "I met him for a second at the wedding and he seemed really nice."

Charlie nodded, satisfied with the conversation and his attention went back to the game.

The rest of the day passed, and then the a few more. It turned into a week with that stretching into two and three. All without a single word from Bella or Edward. The fourth week after they'd left for their honeymoon, Charlie was about to lose his mind.

"Why the hell hasn't she called yet," he seethed, trying to remain calm but failing. "I don't expect an hour long conversation but a quick check up on how they are doing is long overdue."

Adelina was ticked too. She honestly didn't mind taking time off from work, that was the least of her problems, but knowing the relationship Bella had with Charlie and not knowing what was happening was getting on her nerves.

She knew another thing was bothering her, but she didn't even entertain the idea, no matter how much it bounced around in her mind. The boy, Jacob, was in her thoughts and she couldn't get him out. She felt like she wanted to see him again, and as the weeks dragged on her fight became weaker and weaker. Feeling pissed that she felt like this, it was wearing her out trying to resist it so much. Seeing the boy twice should not make her feel like this, it wasn't normal.

Charlie was often over at Billy's place, trying to distract himself from his own thoughts but everything he went by Adelina always found an excuse. She figured he was a little suspicious but didn't say anything. However, she was quickly running out of excuses and knew soon that she would have to tag along.

That day came quicker than she would have liked, but tried to calm herself in the car ride over. Taking deep breaths as they walked through the door, it didn't seem like it was weeks ago when she was last over here. Billy answered, beaming when he saw her behind Charlie and she smiled back, happy to see him. Although she hadn't spent much time with him, she liked his company.
