Barley Surviving- Zombie apocalypse novel

Chapter 1

Ava's POV
"This summer has gone by so fast" I says, throwing my hair up in a bun.
"Yeah I can't believe we all go away for college in less than 3 weeks" Peter says, not even looking up from whoever he's texting on his phone.
"Don't worry, we live in the 21st century. We will stay in touch!", Brooke pipes in taking one headphone out from her ear. "Do I look tan?"
"Not really" Peter replies, "Just burnt".
"Oh god I forgot sunscreen! Now I look like a tomato", Brooke says looking a the damage of the burn.
"Ah whatever it will eventually go into a tan, that's what always happens with your burns" I say. Brooke is beach blonde and very pale, so she always burns and eventually it turns into a tan, I've always been jealous of that.
"Look who finally out of the water" Peter says, as Lauren and Tristan walk toward them, just getting out of the ocean.
"I swear you two were meant to be fishes" Brooke says.
"Whatever", Lauren says jokingly, "Nice burn".
"Don't look at it!" She yells.
"Holy it's gotten so cold" Tristan says
"Well that's what you get for forgetting your towel", Peter says.
"You were rushing me!" Tristan whines.
"Not my problem" Peter responds
"I'm going to get you" Tristan says as he runs to grab Peter, he misses so he starts chasing him.
"Boys" I says laughing with Brooke and Lauren.  As they continue to run around and chase each other we discuss all things college, we are all so excited but we try not to talk about it in front of Tristan as he didn't get in to his 1st choice or backup, so he has to work all semester and apply to others in January.
"What time is it?" Peter says, running back towards us, out of breath.
"Just before seven" I say, we have been at the beach all day
"Holy crap! I haven't eaten in forever" Peter says, stretching out the word forever.
"We all ate around noon, stop complaining" Brooke says.
"How about we all get change and then go get pizza? We can even go to dominos?" Lauren says.
"I approve that decision" Tristan says finally catching up.
"Alright fine lets change then all go the van", I say. I borrowed my moms mini- Van earlier and forgot to ask, also forgot my phone so I knew I'd be in trouble when I got home, so I wasn't in a rush.
Tristan and Peter go one way and every else goes another to change out of our swimsuits and into regular summer clothes.
When we get into the change room we instantly start getting undressed
"What should we get on the pizza?" Brooke asks.
"Well we are going to need more than one" I say jokingly, "I'm so hungry I can probably eat one by myself".
We keep talking about what we should get till we are fully changed and are walking out of the change room.
"We just finished ordering" Peter says as we talk towards them. 
"What! Why didn't you wait for us?" Lauren says, clearly pissed off and very hungry.
"Because we know all of you, we got two larges, one BBQ chicken with no onions of course, and one Canadian", Tristan says.
"Is that all? Because none of have eaten for seven hours we are all pretty hungry" Lauren says.
"Of course not we also got 20 BBQ wings and cheesy bread, oh and five lava cakes" Tristan replies, clearly happy with himself for ordering so much.
"And how much did that come to" I say, annoyed because Im one of the only ones with money.
"Umm, like 70?" Peter says quietly
"70 DOLLARS??" I basically shout.
"Don't worry I think I have a twenty on me" Brooke says
"And I have like 15" Peter says
"Just get in idiots" I say as I unlock the van, kinda pissed that they ordered so much.
We drive to the pizza place quietly, on with the radio making noise.
"So Ava, I've already paid for it when I ordered, I texted my dad and he said I could charge his credit card, I just wanted me make you a little mad haha" Peter says.
"Really? Ugh you're an idiot" I say, relived I don't have to pay.
Peter, Lauren, and Lauren all go and get the food, when they come back we all decided to go to the park and eat since none of us were in a hurry to go home.
I end up getting home with Brooke around 9:30, she decided to stay for a sleepover since her sister and brother were already here with my parents for the night. My parents were already in bed when we got there. Thank gosh. Lecture for taking the car will be save for another day.
We decided to watch a movie, it took awhile but we finally decided on now you see me 2, I haven't watched it yet and Brooke said it was so good she would watch it again. Slowly we both pass out.

Little did I know that one of the best day with my friends, would be the last day of my regular life.
