She had been spending too much time with that ice-stripper and it was bugging Natsu so much. Yes, this is about Lucy.
Natsu stared across the guild hall at the two in sadness. They had been sitting together all night. All night! And Natsu was fed up with it. They had only been hanging out for a week. Lucy had been spending less and less time with him. He was adriving himself crazy. Every time that Natsu went to Lucy to ask her on a job Lucy told him she was busy with Gray. That caused him to challenge Gray to fights more often.
Gray was taking away his teammate. His partner! Every time she laughed at something that Gray had said it took all of Natsu's willpower to not go over there and rip his head off.
When Lucy leaned closer to him and whispered something that even Natsu couldn't hear (even though he was straining his ears to listen), he just wanted his confusion to end. Happy had been talking to him, but he wasn't listening. He was only focusing on the two across the room.
"And then Natzu, I am going to run away and you are never going to see me again." Happy said in a defeated voice.
"That's cool, bud." Natsu murmured the same line he had been saying all night.
"Natzuuu! You have been ignoring me all night, what is wrong-Oh." Happy had followed his look of direction only to see Lucy and Gray. "You lllllllliiiiikkkkeee her!" He cheered up and down.
This seemed to snap Natsu out of his trance. He quickly reached over and put his hand over Happy's mouth. Happy just laughed, and continued cheering like no tomorrow.
This immediately caught the attention of the barmaid, Mira, because she had walked over.
"What is it?" She questioned them.Happy spoke up as soon as he got out of Natsu's grip. "Natzu likes Lushee!" He began doing a dance on the countertop.
Natsu honestly wished the ground would just swallow him up at that moment because Mira started cheering and jumping up and down like Happy screaming, "I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT!" Over and over.
Natsu's face turned a deep red. He glanced around and seemed to not have attracted much attention because no one was looking. He then turned to where Lucy and Gray used to be sitting, only to see them not there. Natsu freaked out all at once.
He didn't know why he was worried. He just was, and fuming. He was so angry that Gray had taken Lucy. His Lucy. The first place he checked would be her place. And he did. He was climbing to her window and heard their voices. He decided to listen in, but that was the horrible mistake he made.
"Just say it Gray! Don't be a baby!" He immediately heard Lucy's voice and that calmed him.
"Alright. Alright, here I go...." Gray had started speaking and paused. This caused Natsu to hold his breath. "I love you. Will you go out with me?" That's when Natsu wanted to cry.
He immediately started running to his house. He didn't need to hear her answer he already knew what it would be.
Am I that stupid? Honestly. How could I have been blind! Gray is obviously the better fit for her. Why should I even compete?
He hated saying those things, but he believed them. When he finally arrived at his house he flew straight in and face-planted right onto his hammock of a bed, and cried. He let it all out. Everything of the pain from the two of them together.
---------------------------------------------
Lucy hadn't seen Natsu in a while. And she was starting to miss him, badly. She had seen Happy and asked about Natsu, but Happy, surprising her, had only glared at her and went to talk to Carla. She was honestly so confused. It had been a week since she finally got Gray to actually confess his feelings for Juvia. It made her laugh that he was nervous when almost every day Juvia told Gray, one way or another, that she loved him. Just one week ago she had Gray in her house, practicing for telling Juvia he loved her. And now they are a couple sitting in the guild together. It honestly made her laugh. Then the sadness of her missing partners presence came back. She honestly was waiting for him to barge through the doors at any moment, being his normal self. He didn't. And after waiting an hour passed the time she normally saw him, she was fed up. She slammed her hand on the counter as she was at her normal seat and stood up, frustrated. She left without a word on her way to Natsu's place.
Once she arrived she pounded on his door really hard. And then yelled, "Natsu! I know you're in there!!"
She only got a muffled "go away" back.Lucy huffed in anger. She then Lucy-kicked his door down like he would probably do, if he ever used a door that is.
She walked in, and his place was trashed. More than usual that is. She walked over to where his hammock was and where he was.
"Where have you been? Natsu! I have been worried sick! .....Are you okay?" She asked once she saw his face. He had tear stains, and she immediately hugged him.
He wanted to push her away, but at the same time he had missed her so much. Natsu ended up hugging her back and putting a lot of his strength into it.
"Are you okay Natsu? Why haven't you been at the guild all week?" Lucy asked once again.
Natsu grunted. "I thought you would be too busy with your new boyfriend." He said that word with a lot of hatred Lucy felt that if she didn't know him, she probably would of been scared. But this is Natsu we are talking about. Her best friend.
When realization of what he said dawned on her, she was horrified. "What did you hear?" She asked with an urgent tone.
"I just heard that stupid ice-stripper ask you out..."
Lucy chuckled a little at that, at least it wasn't too bad. "Well, I am glad to inform you that Gray and I are not dating. In fact, what you heard was him rehearsing for asking Juvia out."
"So- that's what you- Er- I- that's what..." Natsu struggled for the right words.
"What? Were you jealous?" Lucy asked, teasing smile on her lips.
"I sure was." Natsu then leaped off the hammock he was sitting on.
Natsu's lips pressed on Lucy and her lips were super soft. Lucy kissed Natsu back. Lucy swore that if her long time crush ever kissed her, she would kiss him back. And she did. Natsu was surprised that she did.
When he finally pulled away Lucy said something that he had no trouble saying back.
"I love you."
