The year is 9:52 Dragon, although much is happening in Northern Thedas, other acts of bravery, sacrifice, and magic should not be ignored. Thusly, we must look back to Ferelden. Where King Alistair and Queen Anora work to lead Ferelden to greatness, despite their personal opinions of each other. Ferelden as a whole is starting to come to terms with itself.

Orzammar, though under constant civil unrest caused by King Bhelen's paranoia, is starting to open up and increase trade with Denerim, the Templar Order, the Seekers, and the College of Enchanters. Bhelen holds the people of Orzammar on a tight leash and the nobility, even tighter. A peace is being kept, though fragile, by Bhelen's constant paranoia. However, given recent rumors about a son of Harrowmont who is hell bent on destroying Bhelen, many are starting to wonder how long such peace will last.

There has been little elven activity in Ferelden, but that has been chalked up to the unrest along the Brecilian Forest due to the werewolves. Many elves, dalish and otherwise, have joined together to find a means to reverse the curse inflicted upon the dalish in that region so many years ago. During that time however, the werewolves have become feral. The monarchy of Denerim decreed that the Brecilian Passage be blocked and patrolled. A hunting party, aided by the royalty of Ferelden, have just recently started to make their way up from the Korcari Wilds to eliminate the werewolf threat. The hunt for the Infamous, though some say Just, Mistress of the Wolves has begun.

As for the College of Enchanters, the mages there are sitting comfortably and studying magick freely within their stone walls and lavish gardens. Any mage is free to travel from the college, but given the recent abuse from chantry extremists, it has been advised that mages should travel in groups. The real trouble is starting up inside the college. The meaning of freedom and autonomy is starting to be questioned and a call for the Harrowing's revival has been made, which is putting many mages in the college on edge.

The Chantry is doing its best to support and accommodate the many untraditional and irregular policies given by Divine Victoria, former spymaster of the Inquisition and companion of the Hero of Ferelden. The inclusion of other races into chantry fold, the separation of the Templars and Seekers as their own order, the right for marriages between two people, regardless of race or personal identity, and other decrees. Though many such policies were given out on the day of her rise, it has taken years for the chantry to adjust correctly and peacefully. That said, many have blatantly opposed the reforms and left the chantry, reforming in southern Ferelden as the "True Dawn of Andraste". King Alistair, Queen Anora, and Divine Victoria have tolerated this new organization, though many citizenry have not.

A darker threat than extremism or political intrigue is moving forward. An old threat is returning and is counting on the such distractions to keep it hidden. As it happens, four young adventurers stumble across this threat. How they contend with such evil will change them and their fate.
