Saoto Itori couldn't help but look at the manila folder before her with mixed feelings as she mixed her mug of hot chocolate across from her best friend, Natsuki Reika, who was snuggled into a blanket with a mug of her own. The girls had a tray set out between them as they drank their hot chocolate and snacked on the cookies and fruit slices they prepared. For once the topic of conversation between the two best friends was boys and not the fictional kind that was often brought up in conversation. This time it was a real life boy that Itori just so happened to be engaged to.
The manila folder between the girls held all of the information that Itori knew about the boy aside from the fact that he went to Ouran Academy the very school that Reika and her younger brother and sister went to. Also the school that for her third year Itori would be attending, because in her father's words it would give her time to get to know her future husband before they married after graduation.
Itori herself really didn't have much of an opinion on the matter. She knew her father only wanted what was best for her and was trying to secure the best possible future for her that he could. Aside from the multi-billion dollar company, for managing imports and exports, that her parents had created the only other thing they could think of doing was making sure that Itori would marry a respectable man, so ultimately she could be happy. Itori recognized this and promised herself she would do her best to make it work.
Worst case scenario Itori can demand it be broken off but she wanted to at least try to make it work.
Considering the two had never met and only ever heard of the engagement through their parents who more or less thought the coming year as a compatibility test to see if the two young people got along and if they did they would go through with the marriage during the summer and if not they would break off the whole thing.
Itori was broken from her thoughts as Reika's voice broke through that of the tv's garbled noise. "What's his name anyway? Your fiancee I mean, we might as well try to find as much about him so you can be prepared." She explained with a shrug.
A sigh escaped Itori as she took a sip of her drink. "I suppose your right. All I really know is his name, the folder didn't really give me anything. Not even if he is in any clubs." Itori explained. "It's honestly pretty annoying. I think our parents wanted us to at least seem to do the whole courting thing but i just wish they would let it go. We both know we're engaged they don't need to make it a game." She sighed running a hand through her unmade crismon locks, tucking a strand behind her ear before continuing. "I think they wanted to make it less awkward for us by letting us meet for the first time at school and him giving me the engagement ring then, as by now the engagement should already be all over the news, to make it seem less planned." She shrugged. "I don't know i'm probably just overthinking it."
Itori sighed once more as she swirled her drink, taking an occasional sip of the chocolaty liquid as she did so.
"No, i think you have a point." Reika replies, pointing towards her friend with a pocky stick that she had in her hands. "Though, by now it's all said and done. It is terrible that they decided to transfer you, no offense i'll love having you in my class now, but not only do you have to deal with all the attention the engagement is getting. I really don't want to have to share you with anybody, not even... what's his name?" Rieka trailed off causing Itori to giggle.
"Takashi Morinozuka."
