Prompt: Dan and Phil are in the same park, but they don't know each other and accidentally swap phones. Make sure the park has tables.

Dan wasn't sure what he was doing. He was meant to be studying for finals, which were next week for god's sake, but here he was wandering through an almost empty park at half past two in the morning. At this time of night, he wasn't sure if it was completely safe to be walking around alone, but here he was, doing it anyways.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw something move. Spinning around, he saw a boy sitting at a table reading a book. Dan stared curiously, wondering what someone was doing reading in the park this late. Hell, what was he even doing in the park this late.

The boy glanced up from his book, making eye contact with Dan and smiling slightly. Dan smiled back, but the boy was already looking back at his book.

Dan decided he wanted some company and walked over towards the table the boy was sitting at, pulling out the chair across from him, and sitting down. The boy looked up, eyes examining Dan curiously.

"Hi" The boy said, his voice coming out more as a question.

"Hello" Dan said, trying to sound casual. "What are you doing out here so late?"

"I could ask the same about you" the boy said, bookmarking the page he was on and closing his book, turning his full attention on Dan.

"My name's Dan" Dan said, holding his hand out for the boy to shake.

"Phil" The boy, Phil, said smiling as he took Dan's hand.

"So, Phil, What are you reading?" Dan asked, peering curiously at Phil's book, trying to catch a glimpse at the cover.

"Oh, just a book" Phil said, a smirk playing at his lips.

Dan couldn't help but let out a laugh at this, watching as Phil's smile grew even wider.

"I meant the title, you turnip" Dan said still giggling.

"Turnip?" Phil asked, breaking into his own fit of laughter, which Dan couldn't help but join in on.

As both boys' laughter died down, Phil started fumbling in his pocket for something. Dan watched curiously as Phil pulled out a yellow rectangle and held it up to his face. Oh, it was his phone.

"Hello" Phil said. Dan could hear shouting coming from the phone, but couldn't make out what the person was saying. Phil flinched back from the phone, giving Dan a look that told him Phil didn't know what was going on anymore than he did.

"Excu-excuse me ma'am" Phil said, cutting off the shouting. "I think you have the wrong number"

Dan snorted from the other side of the table, causing Phil to giggle slightly.

Dan heard more speaking come from the phone, at a normal volume this time, and Phil hung up, setting the phone on the table and giggling again.

"Well, that was strange" Phil said laughing.

Dan couldn't help but laugh along, noticing how Phil's tongue poked out of the side of his mouth as he laughed. It was cute.

"I like your case" Dan said, trying to compose himself.

"Hmm, oh yeah, Lemongrab" Phil said, smiling. "Do you watch Adventure Time?" Phil asked, sounding hopeful.

"Yeah" Dan giggled. "But I think your case might be-" Dan cut himself off, bursting into laughter.

"Might be what?" Phil said grinning, obviously wanting to be let in on the joke.

"Unacceptable" Dan breathed out, bursting into another fit of laughter.

"Oh my god, Dan. That wasn't even funny" Phil said, obviously trying to hold back his own laughs.

"Yes it was, it totally was" Dan said, still giggling.

Phil just smiled, rolling his eyes affectionately as Dan laughed off the last of his giggles.

"At least your case is better than mine" Dan said, pulling out his phone with a galaxy case, and glaring at it.

"Nah, I like yours, better" Phil said, reaching over and picking up Dan's phone to admire the case.

"We could trade" Dan suggested, half joking.

"Yeah, ok, that would be fun" Phil said, sounding serious.

"Wait, really?" Dan asked

"Yeah, sure, why not." Phil reached over grabbing his case off his phone, putting it on Dan's then doing the same with his own.

"Oh, well, thanks" Dan said, admiring the new case.

"No probl- Oh my god! Is it really three?" Phil said scrambling around to collect his book and a bag Dan hadn't noticed before. "I have to go, see you around, yeah?"

"Yeah" Dan said, not too sure if he ever really would. "Oh, and don't forget your phone."

Dan handed Phil his phone, admiring the Lemongrab case one last time, before waving goodbye to Phil as he walked out of the park. Slipping his own phone back into his pocket, Dan figured he might as well head home himself.

Dan awoke the next morning to his phone vibrating on his nightstand.

"Hello" Dan said groggily into the phone.

"Dan! Is that you?" a familiar sounding voice asked, but he couldn't seem to place it.

"Yeah, who's this?" Dan mumbled, wanting to go back to sleep.

"It's, um, Phil. From the park last night. I- uh- I think we accidentally switched phones" Phil said nervously.

"What?" Dan said, perking up considerably, groaning as he looked down at the phone in his hand, noticing it wasn't his own. "Shit, um, where are you I'll bring yours by and you can give me mine."

"I'm still at home now, but I'll meet you in the park in half an hour?"

"Yeah, ok, see you there" Dan said hanging up the phone and hurrying to get dressed.

~

Half and hour later, Dan was walking towards the park when he felt Phil's phone ring in his pocket.

"Hey, Dan, it's Phil, where are you?" Phil said as soon as Dan answered the phone.

"I'm on my way now, I should be there in, like, two minutes" Dan said, seeing the park in the distance.

"Ok, just making sure, see you in a few" Phil said, hanging up the phone.

Dan walked the rest of the way towards the park, stepping through the gates and looking around for Phil. After scanning for a couple seconds, Dan decided to head to the place they were last night.

He walked towards the group of tables they had been sitting at last night. He looked around and saw Phil sitting at the same table as before, waving Dan over with a grin on his face.

Dan grinned back and made his way over to Phil.

"Hey, Dan. I really can't talk right now, I'm in a hurry, but thanks for bringing my phone" Phil said in a rush.

"No problem" Dan said, pulling out Phil's phone and handing it to him, as Phil did the same with his own.

"It was really nice to meet you, thanks again, Bye Dan!" Phil said, already walking away.

Dan was just about to leave himself, when he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He looked down at the screen to see he had a message from the contact 'Phil <3'.

Grinning, Dan opened the message.

Thanks for the phone, gorgeous. Call me sometime. xx - Phil
