After a tedious day of college courses, I walk around the C-building to the benches behind it. It's a rather warm day for the time of the year. School has started about a month ago, in September. Falling back into our usual routine, I'm meeting my small group of friends after my last course of the day. This year, everyone follows different courses. We wanted to stay in contact though after our first year in the C-dorm, so we decided to meet up once week on the benches behind C-dorm. It used to be our usual hanging spot last year, at least on days when it was warm enough to.
I hear Thomas' voice before I even round the corner. My eyes land on the group sitting on the table, feet on the bench underneath.
"What's up?" I greet as I climb onto the table next to Catherine, who's busy rolling cigs on her bended knees. She looks up at me with a small smile.
"Hey Rubs" she replies. We met our first year of uni and immediately hit it off. She hands me a freshly rolled cig and I take it gratefully. I really need one after the boring classes I had.
Her black jeans are covered in tobacco and rolling paper. She's wearing her 'bite me' shirt with a dark beanie, similar to my own burgundy one.
On the other side of me, Thomas is talking to some girls behind us. He's tall, his long legs folded beneath him. The girls giggle at something he said, their eyes holding an adoring look. Thomas is quite the player and loves being around girls and seducing them. One of them, Victoria, became part of our group after dating Thomas for a solid two months. Her classes run the longest, so we don't see her that much anymore.
I take a long drag of the cig Cat hands me. The slight breeze caresses my face and takes with it the smoke. Closing my eyes, I enjoy the moment. My elbows rest on my knees as I inhale deeply.
My moment is interrupted when someone clears their throat. I look up to see Charlie with an unknown girl trailing beside her. I take another drag of my cig.
The girl's hair is auburn-coloured and long, a big contrast to Charlie's blonde quiff. I don't think I've ever seen her around on campus. Charlie's wearing a sweater and a pair of jeans hung low on her hips. Her short hair adds to the entire look, a navy coloured snapback finishing it. The other girl is wearing a fitting woollen dress in gray. The two look odd in comparison, but the clothes suit the both of them I guess.
"Hey, this is Anne. She's new here, today's her first day." Charlie announces. Ah, that explains why I haven't seen her around.
"Hi Anne, I'm Chloe" One of the girls that was talking to Thomas speaks up first. Chloe's blonde hair and striking blue eyes make for an attractive sight, I see why Thomas likes her.
"Nice to meet you." She looks uncomfortable with all our eyes on her, but she still smiles while speaking.
"Hello beautiful" Thomas' voice travels over my head. I can basically hear the smirk in his voice. The girl squirms under his gaze and a blush travels up her neck.
"Hi, I'm Elena" The other girl speaks, her voice holding an edge. Elena is one of the popular girls on campus. She isn't usually part of our group, but I suppose Thomas charmed her into sitting with us.
The new girl casts her eyes downwards and I can only imagine the looks she's receiving, thanks to Thomas' need to have more girls than he can handle.
Charlie rolls her eyes and walks closer to us. Both of the girls sit down at the table opposite to ours.
"Want a drag?" Catherine offers both the new girl and Charlie. Cat isn't one to share usually, so she must be having a good day.
Charlie sometimes smokes with us, but only when she's stressed. The new girl, unlike anyone in our group, is looking at the cig as if it will kill her by just looking at it. Her silver eyes are wide and she looks even more uncomfortable now, if possible.
