Nobody probably could have guessed that we were a couple. Never in a million years would somebody think that. Dave and I, however, were, and we actually fit together quite well.
After his break up with Alli senior year, he was very solemn. He didn't want to do much even though the break up was mostly his idea.
Also, his role as Romeo in Eli's production of Romeo and Jules opened his eyes and his heart to another side of romanticism. This is where I come in.
Much of my life I have felt misunderstood, I am not very expressive of my emotions. Many could argue that I do not have them, as I tend to act and speak robotically. This is not true.
I had been harboring a crush for several years on the shorter male. He had always been there for me, even though he does fall on the more selfish end of the spectrum.
We were hanging out in the Media Immersion room after school, playing video games on one of the open computers when it happened. His hand was resting on my shoulder, I had just won a battle against our long-time rival, Balthazor. We were ecstatic.
"Connor, I love you!" He exclaimed.
I stopped my celebration, "What?" I asked, curiously.
"You're the best, man. At, at the game, I mean." He stuttered, trying to recover from his outburst.
Guys told their friends that they loved them, right? I know girls do it all the time.
"Oh, uh, okay," I responded, returning to look at the screen. I took a deep breath to calm the butterflies swarming in my stomach after his outburst.
"Actually, Connor?" He asked softly.
I turned back around and looked at him. His head was bowed as if he was praying, and his fingers were fiddling together. "Yeah?"
"I need to tell you something, bro. And it's not very easy to say," He seemed to be getting more nervous.
"Okay?" I watched him take a deep breath, then shake his head, then take another deep breath.
"I think I like dudes. More so, I think I like you, dude," He finally said.
I breathed a sigh of relief, got up and hugged my best friend.
He seemed surprised, standing rigid against my football-toned chest, but eventually relaxed and hugged me back.
"Do you know how long I've wished you would say that to me?" I asked him.
"No, but I'm glad I did, buddy." He responded into my torso, warming a small patch of my shoulder with his breath.
