Many years passed and the boy watched as the world changed and how little people did. Many young maidens fell in love with this selfish and soulless beauty only to be tossed aside and disregarded when he became tired of their company. He grew in wealth as well as ego.

One day he came upon a princess who was as beautiful as he. The marriage was approved by her parents and he loved her dearly. He loved her so much he was afraid that being soulless meant that he could never love her truly. Out of this love he had for her she convinced him to get his soul back after she had grown tired of being held with the coldness of the boy's body and heart.

The boy did as his love asked of him, he lured his guardian angel back down to earth but this time he did not trap the beautiful creature. Instead he got to his knees and begged, "You creature of beauty, you creature of God! I see now that having eternal beauty is not what I need but true love is!" the angel taking pity on the boy replied, "Learnt thy lesson you have. I shall return thy soul but I must take away thy beauty."

The boy did not ponder on this and agreed to this and stripped of his beauty. He was filled with joy at the knowledge that he could now love his princess with all of his heart with nothing to fear. He traveled across the seas back to his love who awaited him.

When he came upon his love in her tower she screamed and wept when she saw him as he no longer held a trace of beauty on the outside. "You beast so ugly! You beast so cruel! I shan't marry you! Not near nor far nor soon!", and with that the princess climbed upon the window ledge and jumped to her death. For she never loved the boy with her heart but only for his beauty.

The once beautiful boy was left heartbroken and alone. He isolated himself from the rest of the world to spend his time depressed and alone. Legends and myths were created about a great and ugly beast who inhabited the forest he lived in and whenever town people caught a glimpse of him they ran away terrified though he would never hurt them.

And thus the boy was forced to spend the rest of eternity alone and heartbroken...
