Chapter 1: Time Goes On

Years after the incident, much has changed. Having been well over a decade and a half since the Kira years, crime rates begin to rise to levels higher than they had ever been. Technology advanced greatly. Along with the world itself, everyone had changed too. 

Hikaru's dad, Taro Kagami, had been missing for months, and was presumed dead. Hikaru would inherit everything his father owned. From royalties from his father's books, his childhood house, their cat. As long as Hikaru kept a paying job, even minimum wage, he'd be able to live comfortably. 

Hideaki had been sent to a place called Wammy's house, returned to Japan years later, become head of the Yotsuba Orphans, and lived as a depressed shut-in, all for the same, sad reason; his sister's passing. 

After the accident, Yuko went through years of therapy, emotional and physical. While on the way to the hospital after her heart attack, an AED was used right after her heart restarted, affecting her badly. She had to take medicine for it, which had side effects on her personality. She had been a bit of a rebel in high school.She'd dye her hair get piercings wear leather even get tattoos even though deep down she was the same girl.

Kei hadn't changed much, aside from never taking off his leather jacket, regardless of the weather. He was a pretty reckless driver with his bike, even though it was extremely expensive, and barely street legal.
