It's the next day. I woke up early to do my morning routine. I wore my black adidas tracksuit with a pair of Neumel Uggs. I did my makeup, I want it to be simple. I grabbed my coat and book bag and headed my way downstairs. Since I'll be taking the bus for now on my mom can sleep in. Since I have forty minutes to spare until my bus comes. I decided to make a little breakfast. I cooked eggs, sausage, and toast. I ate my food and went upstairs to tell my mom that it's time for her to wake up and breakfast is made. I walked out of my house to my bus stop. I waited for the bus to come when it did I sat in the in the very back. I decided to FaceTime Langston.
"What's up bitch," I laughed.
"Maj it's fucking 3am in the morning," his voice is raspy. To be honest I love the sound of a man in his sleepy state. Their voice sounding so sexy. It just make a girl legs quiver.
"I know big head," I smiled.
"I need my beauty rest," he yawned.
"Nigga for what? I see no beauty," I lied. My best friend is indeed a beautiful man. He knows it, so does everyone else.
"That's a god damn lie," he smiled showing his pearly whites.
"Don't get cocky," I smirked.
"What's wrong with a person who has confidence," he asked. Nothing until you take it to far. I shrugged in his response.
"I gotta go. Love you sleepy," I rushed.
"Fuck out of here. You don't love me," he said while I was walking out the bus.
"I do just a little," I rolled my eyes.
"I'll let you have your beauty rest," I emphasized.
"Be good. Love you too I guess," he hanged up before I could say something. I was walking to my home room before I see Sakari looking over my shoulder.
"Who's that," she asked.
"My friend from home," I told her. I don't know her much to give her my backstory.
(A/N: Skips to Lunch)
Once again I'm sitting with Sakari , and her friends. I learned that Shaun and Kenneth are together. I have nothing against gay couples. For what exactly? Why hate on love? Is it just because of their gender? For people liking their on sex? Love is love. They are very cute together.
"Why did your family move to the east coast," Gina asked.
"Well," I linger.
"You don't have to tell us if you don't want to," Shaun spoke.
"Thank you," I smiled. I just noticed Jamal isn't at the table.
"Where's Jamal," I asked.
"He's with his football buddies," she pointed. I looked his way and waved. I got the gesture in return.
"Hey do you want to hang out with us this weekend," Gina asked.
"What are you planning to do," I asked while sipping my juice.
"Our tradition," she smiled.
"And what's that," I'm interested in what she's going to say next.
"We watch movies, eat junk, and dares,".I just met them. Should I? I can't make friends until I put my effort in.
"Here give me your number so you can be in the groupchat," she gave me her phone. I typed my number into her phone. Lunch was over and I had my last classes to go.School is out. I got on my bus. I sat in the same seat I did this morning. Welp this'll be my seat for the rest of the year. I just made it home. I guess my mom won't be home until tonight. She left on the counter some money. I went upstairs to do my homework. That took up two whole hours. I wanted to go to the store since we don't have anything sweet in this piece. I still have on my clothes and shoes. I grabbed my money, phone, and keys. I locked up the house, and entered my dads car. I haven't been in here sine you know what.
FlashBack-Sophomore Year
"C'mon sweet pea," my dad encouraged.
"I'm scared," I rested my head on the wheel.
"You passed your DMV test," He smiled proudly.
"That doesn't mean I'm a certified driver yet dad it just means I studied," I sighed.
"I know that you've been practicing. Practice make perfect," he used that cliche motivational line
"So you wanna die today," I asked.
"Girl if you don't put the key in the ignition," he laughed shaking his head.
"Remix to ignition hot and fresh out the kitchen," i sang.
"Momma rolling that body got every man in here wishing," my dad added the next lyric.
We sat there in the car singing R.Kelly until I was ready to drive.
I put the key in the ignition and started route to the store. I arrived to the store approximately in fifteen minutes. I parked and went inside the store. I grabbed myself a basket on the way in. I walked around a bit, but I'm lost as fuck. I see a employee stacking milk into the freezer.
"Hey I wanted to ask where is the candy aisle," I waited for his answer. But I didn't get any response in return. I tapped his ribcage , he's very tall. He turned around, and it's the same dude I seen standing in line behind my mom and I.
"Hello," he chuckled.
"I forgot what I was going to say," I mumbled profanities.
"I got it," I clapped. Why the fuck did I do that? Oh my goodness maj keep your composure in front of this fine ass man infront of you.
"I wanted to know where is the candy aisle," I smiled.
"Follow me I have to go that way," he closed the freezer door. He wheeled the cart. I followed behind him. I looked around seeing cute kids running around getting yelled at. Good ol times. I threw all sorts of candy into my basket.
"What's the occasion," he asked looking at the sugary death in my basket.
"I do this thing where I take all the sweet shit in my kitchen, and put it all into a sundae. I ran out apparently," I chuckled. I've been doing this with my dad.
"That seem fun," he smiled while stacking and putting things in order.
"My father and I done it ever since I was little," I reminisced.
"He is lit," he smiled.
"Was," My smile then frowned.
"Sorry,".
"It's ok honestly," I assured.
"See you around Wes," I pointed at his name tag.
I also grabbed different kinds of ice cream. Vanilla, Chocolate, and cookie dough. I was on my way for check-out.
When I got home it was around seven something pm. I took care of my hygiene, slipped into something more comfortable, and made my sundae. I turned on my father and I's favorite movie. 'Madea Goes To Jail'. I have this weird feeling that someone else is here beside me. I looked over my shoulder to see my dad looking ahead eating his sundae. With a blink of an eye he vanished. Just come back. I whispered.Friday- after school
I decided to hangout with Sakari and em'. Why not? We all linked up by the statue right outside the school entrance.
"Majoli is riding with me. We'll meet you at your house," Sakari told Gina. I put my duffle back seat.
"Where we going," I put my seatbelt on. Shit I don't know how she drive. I'm not going to die with a girl I known for only a week. I have been going to the store a lot lately to see if Wes is there. I know I sound like a stalker. Maybe I am beside the point he wasn't there when I show up.
"I want to show you something," she simply says before exiting the school parking lot. I nodded my head looking out the window."What's this," I asked looking around the unfamiliar place.
"My old house," Sakari answered.
"Why are we here," I asked yet another question.
"When I was young my parents were young and in love. They would stick together like super glue. Nothing or anything will separate the two. My mom had me when she was eighteen. My dad was working in a garage while my mom were staying at home taking care of lil ol me," she chuckled.
"When I hit five my dad started to drink a lot. He always tell me "Sakar go get me some juice". I'll get it for him. Over the next year, my mom grew angry with my dad for always not being around. They will argue. She yells, and he screams," I seen a tear rolled down her cheek.
"She'll pack up, we leave for awhile. The end result is for us to come back. For it to only repeat. Until one day it took a wrong turn. My mom told me to go upstairs to my room. And so I did. I'll hear yelling from both of my parents. I went to go see what's going on. I sat on the stairs but I wasn't seen. hear my dad yelling saying I messed everything up," she scoffed.
"I seen him hit my mother for the first time. She hit him back with words. She defended me. My mom threw a glass alcoholic beverage at his ass. He dodged it. It had shattered against the wall. The lit candle," now her water works begin to kick in.
"The with the screaming, and stuff being thrown around. The candle had fallen from the living room carpet. The flame slowly but surely caught unto the alcohol. They were caught up in the moment to notice it. I ran upstairs to hide in my closet. I was in shock. Words couldn't be able to come out of my small voice. I closed my eyes and prayed for help. I heard wood clashing in a distance. I heard the firemen bust through my room," she looked her surroundings.
"They saved me. They took me to the ambulance to get treated. I seen one of them zip up my parents in bags.At the moment I knew I would never see them again," I walked up to her and hugged her. She cried into my shoulder.
"If I wasn't born they will still be alive," she whispered.
"Girl hush. It's not your fault," I caressed her hair.
"Why are you telling me this," I asked.
"You're the only person I told," she wiped her tears.
"And I trust you somehow," she chuckled.
