Waiting

Prologue: Along a dirt path men walked up and down. Black cars making dirt blow into the wind. Yelling, the crunching of autumn leaves under fine shiny shoes was all around. "We need to get the files. Maybe we should send our best agent?" A man said to what looked like the General. "Get her and send her out with Naomi." The General said pushing the man. "On it." The man said, rubbing his shoulder blade.

Chapter 1:

I grabbed my shovel and headed towards my flowerbed. I wiped sweat off my forehead. I held my basket tightly between my fingers which were covered in my favorite garden gloves. I sat down, careful not to get the mud from my shoes on my clothing. I took my shovel in hand and dug a hole to retrieve my flowers before it was too cold. I heard a car rumbling up to the abandoned house next door. Probably just a buyer. A women opened the passenger door and walked slowly and calmly to the door of the house. She was dressed in a clean black suit. A hat protected her face from my view. I could make out that her hair was in a bun and it was a dirty blonde color. She closed the door and returned a couple minutes later with some file folders. She looked around frantic and ran to the car. She saw me staring at her but didn't make an action to tell me something or anyone else. I heard another voice from the car and the slamming of a gas pedal and the car was gone. I shook my head and continued gardening. When I finished I went into my house for some water. When I was done with that, I returned outside and gardened my tree. Again, I saw the women walked down the sidewalk. This time it was darker outside, so I shone a flashlight across her. "Who are you?!" I asked, but she took one look at me and ran towards a car. About five minutes later, that car she had retreated to, pulled into my driveway. As she got out of the passenger side, I could make out her facial features. A lady on the driver side got out. The women grabbed me by my arms and the lady opened the trunk. "Are you sure she was the one?!" The lady asked. "Absolutely." The women replied. The women threw me into the trunk. I shuffled around inside the trunk but lay still when the women hit the trunk. The car started and pulled out of the driveway.

Chapter 2:

I heard talking. I felt something cold on my hand. I felt to see if it was a object, sure enough it was. I pulled it towards me and realized at once it was a flashlight. My luck. I hit the button and it turned on. I shone it around the trunk. I saw trash, and umbrella, a bag and crumbs. I rolled my eyes and turned it off. My eyes told me I needed sleep, but my heart told me to find a way out. I fell asleep, as you could see my choice. I felt cold fingers pushing against me. I jolted awake. The voice flooded into my head. "WAKE UP!" It yelled. She saw me turn my head and smirked. "Hungry?" She asked. That one word reminded me of my hunger. I nodded. But somewhere in my mind told me she wasn't lying and she would give me food, and that spark went out quick as she threw at me an empty box of raisins. "Sorry, I guess I forgot about you." She said, shrugging. She slammed the trunk closed and I heard talking then realized, we were at Wal-Mart. Finally the women gave me a piece of bread; I tore at the piece like a wild animal. Then the women took me out of the trunk and into the back seat. When the lady returned, I was placed in the trunk again. We got to a gas station and the women checked on me. "Julia? What are you doing?" The lady asked. "Nothing Naomi." Julia said. Naomi rolled her eyes and returned to putting the gas in. Julia noticed my flashlight and grabbed it from my grip. "Hmm..." She said, examining the object. "Tough luck." She said, and closed the trunk. While we were driving I felt around the walls of the trunk. I noticed some sort of button. I pushed it and a tiny door opened. I saw Naomi driving and then Julia noticed me. I spotted the flashlight and dragged it back with me before she slammed the door shut. I lay staring at a prick of light above me, my breaths fast and hard. I quickly flicked the flashlight on as I could see that tiny hole of light I had been getting darker. Which was strange because when I got the flashlight the clock said 12:00 PM. Then I realized, the buzzing and swishes outside the walls was the sounds of a gas station. I could hear the delicate bristles and such touching the outside of the silver car. Then I heard the loud noises of the blow-dryers. The wind blew in through the hole. I flicked of the light and lay on my back. I could hear the low grumbles from my stomach. My mouth was dry and my tongue felt like dry rye bread. My limbs felt like rocks, and my heart was the only sound besides the cars zooming past. Their rubber wheels contacting the concrete road. The noises of bouncing cars and trucks. Again, I could hear the soft turns of pages and talking. The shuffling of feet against the carpet of the car. We reached an Inn, and I was ordered inside. She grasped my arm tightly in an effort to keep me from running, which I most wanted to do. We walked to a phone; she placed a GPS looking device down on a wooden table. A soft light shone a phone. I picked it up and dialed a number she had written on a piece of paper, she promised me if I did what she said, I would be returned to my home.
