After an uneventful Tuesday filled with classes, I meet up with Cat at her apartment.
Her short hair is covered in a dark blue beanie this time. She's wearing a pair of leggings with an oversized sweater over it.
"So what's up with the new girl?" She asks when we sit down together on her worn out couch. Her eyes are cast downwards as she tries to roll a cig. Perks of having your own apartment, right? It's not like she doesn't smoke inside my dorm, but there's less rules here.
"Not much. " I reply carelessly. She looks at me for a few seconds without saying anything. She finishes rolling and lights up the cig, bringing it to her lips.
She does smoke a lot, but I wouldn't dare to lecture her on it. She knows very well how bad it is. Smoking is her way of dealing with things though, and I won't take that away from her.
"I saw her and Charlie in the coffee shop." I explain when she doesn't reply. Her eyebrows shoot up, eyes inviting me to elaborate.
"Lily overslept or some shit so I took over the coffee shop for a bit." I explain.
"The coffee shop near the library?" She frowns, the girl really doesn't know her campus despite having attended college for two years already.
"Yes." I sigh, exasperated that she doesn't even know the best coffee shop on earth. Her hands fly up in mock surrender and she chuckles.
"Aight, did Charlie say anything?" She asks, giving me a serious look."Nope, I think we're mostly good now." I reply casually. Charlie and I's relationship has certainly not been easy, but we're okay now.
"I still think you should've spit in her drink" my sweet, protective friend replies laughing. She never really liked Charlie, but after everything that happened Cat has good reason to dislike her.
"Hey! I would never do that. It's disgusting." I make a face while Catherine's still laughing her ass off.
"I don't know why they hang out together so much anyway." Cat sighs, taking a long drag of her cig.
"Suppose they're friends now? I don't know, maybe Charlie wants her." I sit back on the couch, my arms behind my head.
"Anne? I doubt she's even into girls." Cat replies my exact thoughts.
"I mean, I wouldn't hesitate if she was." I reason.
"What?"
"C'mon Cat, she's shy as hell and maybe a little uptight but also hot." I argument and she sighs, rolling her eyes.
"You're disgusting"
"Never claimed otherwise" I wink and laugh. She joins me for a moment and then gets up to get a glass of water. She offers me one but I decline.
"So how's your love life?" I question the girl behind me, filling up her glass. She doesn't reply, I only hear a loud groan. I chuckle, knowing she hates discussing anything remotely that personal.
We banter for a bit more before Cat orders pizza. After doing so, she turns on her laptop and goes straight to Netflix, which is kind of her way of saying she's talked enough for the evening.
The smell of freshly baked goodness blesses my nostrils. I pay for half of it and we eat while watching tv. Most of the evening is spent that way.
I go home about eleven and fall asleep right away.
On Wednesday, my classes are more interesting and the day flies by. Thomas texts me saying he's throwing a small party in his dorm and that we're all invited. I text Cat about it and we decide to go since the both of us have nothing better to do.
