The sun rose to a promising day on that Friday morning. She woke up more early than usual. As a matter of fact, she barely slept because she was afraid that he would miss the train. Thankfully, he texted her saying he is on his way. She got dressed fast and took a cab to the train station where he was already standing waiting for her. Her hands were shaking from the excitement and her heart was pounding. She couldn't believe that it was finally happening. the road to the train station felt like forever even though it was just fifteen minutes away. But it has to because the last time she seen him was from six weeks. She has been counting the days to see him again ever since then. She jumped off the cab when she saw the glimpse of the train station and crossed the road looking for him. she scanned the side walk until her eyes fell on him. her lips stretched to a wide smile and she hoped her eyes wouldn't show how excited she was. He smiled as he saw her and walked up to her. he was missed so much that she wanted to hug him. "I mis- "he interrupted her "dude, I am starving" she giggled "idiot!" he has never changed a bit. The same whiny idiot with that charming million-dollar smile whom she loves so much. How did she even make it through the past six weeks without seeing him? she wouldn't lie if she said that she has questioned her feelings. She thought maybe she doesn't love him. maybe she only loves those summer memories back at that trip where they have met. Maybe she is still holding on to those feelings as a way to never let go to the memories. But then he showed up today and it all came back: The sparks, the feelings and that permanent smile his presence draws on her face. Everyone used to joke about they were couple material. They have great chemistry and despite being so different, their characters were quite similar. But like that would ever matter because he has already labelled her as a friend. And she is already emotionally messed up enough that she stopped believing in relationships. So, being friends didn't hurt her because, like what she has always said to her friends, his presence in her life was the only thing that mattered. Besides even though she loves him she wouldn't to be in a relationship with him because relationships end and people part ways. She knows he wasn't emotionally mature enough for commitment and she already has too many insecurities. It would have never worked out. so, in order not to lose him she would have never ask for more than his friendship.
They had breakfast and then coffee. The waitress in the restaurant was obviously hitting on him "someone is not getting tips here. Just saying" she mumbled while he laughed. Later, she happily kept listening to his endless chat about his friends and his college. She loves it when he keeps talking about anything random and she only listens. Sometimes she wouldn't understand when he starts talking about his love for cars or his father's job yet she keeps listening without complaining because she loves him. she loves him, right? She still can't figure out the definition of love but if what she feels can't be defined as love then what could be? It was all going great and she couldn't have been happier. She was looking at him and smiling like he is the best thing in the world. She has always considered his presence in her life one of god's greatest gifts.
But then that unexpected moment arrived. He looked at her with a wide smile and said "I forgot to tell you, I like someone"
Does anyone know how it is like to be punched in the stomach by a professional wrestler who is by chance happened to be super furious? Well, this is how it felt. It took her a moment to realize what he has just said. He said likes someone, right? She looked at him and he was still looking at her and her real reaction was struggling not to come out. How it could come out anyway? "w-who is she?" she said hoping her eyes wouldn't expose how angry she was. He started telling her about that girl and how they talk every day. He said they couldn't move any forward and he doesn't know if she likes him back or not. She kept listening and told him not rush into it and it is going to work out. He told her that he was so stupid because he could never tell when a girl likes him. "couldn't agree more. You are a total idiot and definitely blind" she scoffed and he laughed. He couldn't get the truth that lied beneath the joke, just like every single time he couldn't understand how she felt. on the other hand, everybody else knew. She didn't have to talk because according to everyone her eyes were exposing her. they said there has always been that glow in her eyes when he is around yet he never saw it or maybe he pretended it wasn't there.
