The duo awoke with a start, not to a brutal beating but too hums. Low daunting hums that carried a dark and sickly sweet melody that couldn't be mistaken as anything but foreboding. Sam and Cyrus were all alone in the park, or least they were when they stood up and dusted themselves off, "Cyrus what the fuck happened"
Lining the side walk forming the border of the park was a wall of bodies, dead mangled bodies, and they were humming, "i don't know, but there everywhere Sam" the humming dulled and groans were added into the the sound, the pain groans of people who would be at more peace dead. The two locked eyes before turning to the dead bodies in time to see them moving amd attempting to stand. "Fuck this shit we climb" Sam stated before making a beeline to the playground equipment(is that the right word? ) in the middle of the park and began climbing up it, Cyrus quickly following behind.
By the time the duo clambered to the top of one of the roofs the majority of the bodies had more or less stood up and were awkwardly stumbling towards them at a taunting(tantalizing?) pace. "Think maybe they just want to give us happy zombie hugs and then leave to end world hunger?" Sam said half sarcastically, half hopefully. Cyrus just looked at him like a madman, "Sam, what? The first part makes sense but the second, how would they solve world hunger?" Sam smacked his own forehead, "you choose to question that part of my wistful thinking? Dude they're clearly zombies, that came out of nowhere, logic clearly fucked itself on the arse today!" he said throwing his arms in the air over dramatically, Cyrus laughed though out of nerves or because he found his friend amusing even he wasn't sure, "At least if we die, I'll have had one last laugh." Sam was about to pip in with something that he felt was philosophical with a nervous half smile plastered on is face when he fell backwards onto the roof, "Sam?" Cyrus asked concerned, before meeting the same fate as his friend.
When they opened their eyes they were floating in a realm of unadulterated white, and in front of them was an unnaturally beautiful woman in a billowing white dress that almost blended in perfectly to the color of the realm. "Hello young ones" she began with a voice that seemed eternal, powerful, and felt like sunflowers(or another flower that would be better for the analogy) growing in your soul, "I am Magnificent, goddess of life, twin to the god of death, and my elder brother Lord Chaos has defeated his twin Lord Order. Because of thi-ahem, my eyes are over here" she finished calmly, the seeds of annoyed sarcasm obvious in her words as the two boys, stunned and curious had been more or less been attempting to explore (to less then successful results) the realm, stealing a glance at the goddess every other word. "What? We can see that Megan, sorry to hear about your brothers fighting and all, but where are we?" The goddess Magnificent looked at Sam, loosing her composure for the briefest of moments and looking dumbfounded during said moment, "M-Megan? Who are you to call me anything but my name and title Magnificent the goddess of life?" it was Cyrus who interjected next, "I don't know Megan does seem to be a bit easier to say then, well that... Also like Sam said where are we, and also why?"
The goddess of life Magnificent renamed Megan sighed, "Fine, we are in a celestial realm, it appears empty because what it is comprised of is incomprehensible to mere mortals such as yourselves, such is true for my true self, what you see is but an avatar given human form so that you would not fall into insanity gazing upon me" the two boys nodded as if fully understanding her statement. The goddess sighs again, "and as to the why, as I was saying before, my brother Lord Chaos overpowered his twin Lord Order and now the cosmos has been thrown into turmoil because of this. Me and my twin have always been fond of the way of the universe Lord Order helped to impose, it suited our purposes better." the goddess looked down as if in shame, "But Death and I have always been weaker gods then our elder brothers and as such cannot face Lord Chaos on and hope to win, and thusly require champions..." she looked back up at them, holding their gazes with the intensity of 10,000 burning stars and the gentleness of a mother holding her newborn baby for the first time, her voice barely a whisper but still more powerful then either boy could hope to muster "and I have chosen you two to be my champion, and should you accept I will unlock within you the ability to wield celestial powers, although I will not be able to tell you how they will manifest as only your souls will be able to do that" the goddess then did a bow, the motion itself filled with pleading and regret, "I beg you as only a goddess can, accept my boons, become my champions and help me save humanity." she straightened out, and once more she captured their gazes, waiting for their reply.
The two looked at each other, before looking towards the Goddess with certainty plastered upon their young adult faces not truly realizing what they were signing themselves up for, "Sure!"
