Anna
The sun shines through my window as I lay in bed with sheets around me. I look at the clock that says *6:30* on it. I jump up in a panic wearing nothing but my bra and panties. I slide across the hardwood floors to the bathroom in the corner. My Condo is nice sized with lots of glass windows but I live on the seventh floor so there is no need for curtains or blinds. I jump into the shower washing with really hot water that fogs up the bathroom. I leap out of the shower and look in the mirror my dark skin looks smooth and succulent. I brush my teeth and run to the closet. I pull out a purple dress with a V cut in the front and a pulled in the waist it's about 3 inches above the knee. I pull out a pair of black pumps that accentuate my legs. I put on some jewelry a necklace and some bracelets and some earrings. Pick up my phone and the time says*7:00*. I run back to the bathroom and throwing my scarf and brushing my hair down. My hair is cut into a short bob. I grab my briefcase and a suit jacket. I put on my sunglasses and ran out the door. Damn it! No coffee. I get into my sports Audi; sliver and glistening. When I enter my phone rings. "Anna where are you?"
"Mr. Harper I'm on my way I overslept." I put the car in gear and pulled into traffic...Atlanta and its traffic very awful.
"Well hurry up I want you to read the Ganse proposal ASAP!" The phone clicks and my screen says call ended. I speak to my phone "Siri call secretary." The phone dials Carla.
"Hello?"
"I'm fifteen minutes away and I need you to pull the Ganse file."
" Good morning, to you too."
"I'm so sorry Carla that was rude I'm just a little frazzled."
"Mr. Harper called huh? Ill pull his jacket and bring you your coffee...It'll be on your desk."
I smiled she is the absolute best.
"You know me so well."  she laughs and says "That's the job bye."
"Bye".
The phone hangs up and I look at the sky all blue and I pull into the parking lot. The building says McCormick & Harper at the top. I get on the elevator and go to the top floor. I see Carla with her dark glossy hair and big green eyes. Her pink cardigan and a pencil skirt matching as if she ordered it from a magazine. She smiles and waves at me as she takes a call. I sit in my desk and sip my coffee it's perfect. The cream is flavorful and the sugar is light but enough to taste just heavenly. My desk is big, silver and neat. The glass center of my desk always reflects the sun from the window behind it.
I put on my reading glasses and go over the Ganse file with a fine tooth comb. As I do this Carla knocks. I signal her in.
" There's a guy looking for you". She points at the guy standing next to her desk.
"I don't have any meetings today," I say confused.
"Tell him to make an appointment and come back then. No walk-ins- you know that Carla." I continue reading the file.
"He says he has a very important client who requested you personally." I throw the file and look at her motioning her to bring him in. She runs out and ushers him in closing the door behind her. The man was tall dark and handsome. His suit was well tailored and Armani. Face shaved clean; very neat.
" How may I help you?" I say standing to shake his hand.
"Hello, I was sent here by my boss". I stared at him in wonder most clients bring themselves to my office.
" And whom might your Boss be?"
" I can't tell you his name but only the nature of the case",  sitting pulling out a notepad ready to jot down notes.
" First, I would need to know the charges filed. Two why he couldn't come himself". I said as went back to my desk with the client information form. "Well Mrs. Lafferty my client is very secretive none of his information must be leaked and him coming here today would be bad for his....reputation," Harvey said this while sitting in my guest chair buttoning his jacket and crossing his legs. I just stared at him wondering what kind of man would I be representing.
"I'm bound by Law not to tell anything that he tells me to anyone. I'm bound by confidentiality," I said sliding the folder over to his side of the desk. I sit back crossing my legs and sitting up straight making eye contact. The man sits up staring me in the eyes wondering if he should talk to me or not. "I'm going to set up a meeting so you can meet with him that is if you take the case." He said "You've yet to answer my question...What is he being accused of?" I said really confused by the situation. "My boss will disclose all information when you all meet and then you can decide if you will take the case." I sat back in my chair hands folded setting down the pen. Why wouldn't he just tell me the nature of the case or the charges? This client better pay extremely well for the headache he is already causing. I look at him he just stares back his eyes a hazel color. The man stands to shake my hand. I stand as well shaking his hand. "I hope your boss is worth the secrecy." He shakes my hand slowly but really firm. "Trust me he is and pays quite handsomely...The meeting will be set up tomorrow at 3:00 pm." I let go of his hand opening my planner. "3:00 pm doesn't work for me how about 5:30 pm?" He looks down at his iPhone. "Yeah, he's free at 5:30 pm that will work, the meeting will be at his house in Buck Hill. See you then." He walks toward the door after, after taking a card with information on it from my desk; then leaves. Before I could utter out a word. I sit down looking at the papers he left on my desk. He didn't fill out. I know that if he lives in Buck hill then he's rich. Rich people and secrets mean trouble. I continue reading my case about a frat house party gone wrong. Dumb rich kids. I can't help but feel like the situation is weird but I gave up on normal years ago.

                                                                             * Later that evening  *

After a long day of work, all I want is a glass of wine and a hot bath with lots of bubbles. I leave my shoes by the door closing my apartment windows going to the bathroom to run my bath water. I go to the kitchen to get a bottle of Bordeaux when my phone rings. I hesitate to answer it not knowing who the may be calling. But I answer.

"Hello?"  I continue to pour my wine into a crystal glass.

"Hello, Ms. Lafferty. I would like to meet with you to discuss my case."

"I'm sorry I-."

"Harvey my assistant spoke with you today. I want to discuss the case what exactly I need from you. I would like to meet at Nikolai's Roof tomorrow at seven for dinner." The phone goes dead and my is racing with confusion.

The guy has the audacity to summon me to some restaurant and I don't know who he is or what's his true motives are. I'm kinda worried that this could be dangerous. I mean criminals are usually my clients, not saints. I continue drinking my glass of wine and strip down for my bath. As I go into the water my phone rings again. I really want to be left alone it is really late. Jeez. I let it ring. I am entitled to a moment alone.

                                                                             *Next Day*

My Routine is the same get and get dressed for another long grueling day. As I make my way to my office Mr. Harper is sitting in my chair with a hard scolded face.

"May I help you?"

" I called you last night and you didn't answer?"

"Mr. Harper it was late I was asleep. I apologize."

" Was this of vital importance? Is there a problem with the case?"

"Yes and no. I want you to focus on the high profile cases to build a good public image for our firm. I would also like to congratulate you on your nomination. Women of the year."

I'm speechless I have worked so hard to be the best. All I wanted was to prove that I could be something that I was worth something.  I smile as I shake Mr. Harper's hand.

"Thank you, Sir."

"You've earned it." He rises from his chair and leaves. Now, I need to learn who my new client is why he so important.
