It's almost amusing to believe that the crowd who was to applaud my coronation is the same crowd who will be applauding my death. There is a part of me that wants this life to be over, to join my family. Then again there's another part, the more dominant part that wants me to stay. To see how my life will end. To grow old. Live a happy life. As much as I'd love for these possibilities to come true, I know they never will. Today is the day of my execution.
My family has been ruling the beautiful kingdom of Ilopia for generations. We were fortunate enough to have the elegant landscape of the snow-capped mountains glistening in the daylight. Howling wind whipping snowflakes across the landscape. Shimmering snowflakes covering the towering evergreens and the stunted growth of the grasses and flowers that wait for the warmth. This all used to belong to us, the Whitelocks, until the kingdom was overthrown.
Precisely six days ago, was the day that the Branfords invaded our land. Bravely defending our kingdom, my father, Lawrence Whitelock lead our forces to defend the war that was declared upon us. After my mother discovered the tragic death of my father, Priscilla Whitelock surrendered herself, unable to bare the thought of living without my father. My kind, loving mother left her only daughters to fend for themselves in the middle of this gruesome war without a second thought. Soon, Aspen and Anabelle will only be a memory. I don't blame her for what she did-I might even have done the same if I'd loved someone as much as she'd loved my father.
Just hours after our parents deaths, my sweet, adventurous sister, Annabelle was captured. Her death was immediate, quick, no suffering. She didn't know that our parents had died not long before she would, only that they had told her to hide. Annabelle was supposedly discovered in the wine cellar and by the time I was told, her blood had already been dried to the floors. That leads me to where I am now.
