Sophia Miller walks down the hallway of the school. Her auburn brown curls bounce just below her shoulder blades. Everybody's eyes are on her green ones. Her heels click on the tile floor. Sophia is new to Evergreen High. People feared for Sophia, for she was even prettier than their queen bee; Hannah Carson. They all stand there watching her strut down to the principal's office. Feeling insecure of themselves under her glance, they scattered and waited for Hannah to enter the building. Only one person matches Sophia's inner and outer beauty, Miles Maddox. Just as everyone else, Sophia caught the eye of Miles. She made her last right turn, making her enter the principal's office.
"Hi, how may I help you?" The lady at the front desk asked.

"Hi, I'm the new student here and would like to know where to go," Sophia said in a calm voice.

"Yes! Are you Sophia Miller?" Sophia nodded her head yes.

"Alrighty dear, here are your classes, your locker number, and your books," Sophia looked over her classes and locker number. She then put the paper down and took the books. Bending down, she heard someone enter through the clear glass doors. Sophia finished putting her books in her bag and stood up. She came eye to eye with a handsome stranger.
"Sophia, this is my son. He will show you to your classes, " Sophia didn't hear a thing the women said, for she was stuck staring into the eyes of the mystery man.
"I'm Max," The man in front of her had dirty blonde hair that fit him perfectly.

"I'm Sophia," the two exchanged names, still looking into the eyes of one another.

"Hmm," The lady at the office coughed, breaking their glancing.

"Well, may I see your schedule?" Max questioned. Sophia handed him her paper. She watched him skim the paper. She noticed that his face lit up and she wondered what made him happy. He quickly covered his emotions with a plain face, trying to act "cool."

"Well, I have first period, third period, and fourth period with you!" Max said with an excited tone. Sophia just stands there, giggling.
"Alright you two, I would get a move on it before you are late to first period," The lady at the desk said. Sophia checked her name tag; Summer Lee.

The both of them walked out of the office. The glass doors made a small screech.

"Okay, the first class is," Sophia stopped and checked the papers " honors English!" Sophia loves literary work. Writing, reading, and singing are all things she can do very well.

"You seem excited for English," Max acknowledged. This comment left Sophia giggling.

"How could you not? English is perfect!" She said very enthusiastically. Everybody just stared at them.

"Why are they watching us?" Sophia gently whispered.

"Because, I'm quite a big deal around here," he answered jokingly. They both broke out laughing. Max was known as the funny, sweet, lovable, joyful person. Sophia thought that she already likes him. "DING!"

"Come sit with me," Max tried to convince Sophia.

"Okay!" She said while Max pulled her to the seat next to his.

"Alright kids, we have a new student here. Why don't you come up here and tell us a little about yourself Sophia?" Mrs. Daniels asked. Sophia, nervously walked up to the front chalkboard.

"I'm Sophia Miller, I am adopted, I love my family and my pets, English is my favorite subject, and I sing." She slouched a little standing. Sophia is beautiful, but fairly shy.

"Suck up!" Someone shouted from the back of the room. Everyone looked at who it was. Sophia didn't know, but it was Hannah. The queen bee strikes again! People didn't laugh and Hannah started to get mad.

"Laugh!" Hannah demanded. Every person in the room started to laugh, including the teacher. All but one, Sophia. Hannah ruled the school. Sophia sat down and the teacher started the class, All throughout their first period, Hannah continued to glare at Sophia. Although Hannah thought Sophia didn't notice the glares, she did. No matter how hard Sophia tried to concentrate on the work, she couldn't stop thinking about why Hannah was doing this. Mrs. Daniels' voice started become quiet. Her voice was fading. Sophia started to explore her own thoughts. She wondered why Hannah was rude and why she already likes Max. She didn't pay attention throughout the entire class. She heard bits and pieces of what the teacher was saying, but she mostly was listening to her own thoughts. The bell rung before Sophia even knew. An hour and a half past already?

"Ready?" Max asked curiously.

"For?" Sophia asked confused.

"To go to your second period silly!"

"Oh, yeah. Sorry, I forgot for a second," She said apologetically.

"It's okay. Follow me. You have gym next right?" He asked again.

"Umm," Sophia checked her schedule. "Yeah," she said.

"Alrighty then!" Max said in a normal, calm tone. Sophia wanted to have fun at her first day. The two exchanged jokes and puns back and forth.
" What did one ocean say to the other?" Sophia asked.

"What?" Max asked, ready for the answer.

"Nothing, they just waved. Sea what I did there? I'm shore you did. I know I'm funny, but you don't need to be a beach about it!" Sophia finished the pun.

"That's so stupid that it's funny. " Max said. The people in the halls would look at them. Sophia would say "What? It's like you haven't seen people have fun before. YOU SHOULD TRY!" This would just make Max laugh even more.

The entire day went by nicely for Sophia. She started to develop stronger feelings for Max. Max knew he was in love already. He would do anything for her.

"Here, call me sometime," Max said handing Sophia a little, white piece of paper. She examined it and realized that it was his number.

"Yeah!" She said excitedly. So excited that Max noticed it. Sophia went her way home, just like Max. Sophia loves her family, but they fight a lot. She acts like she is okay, but she is really depressed. She doesn't want anyone to know about her depression. Sophia has been through a lot. For example, one weekend on a Saturday, Sophia woke up to her mom screaming her name. Sophia didn't wish to wake, but she had too.

"Sophia...SOPHIA!" Her mom shouted.

"Wake up! Your father is trying to kill me." Sophia woke up at those words. Her eyes were blinded by the sudden light change.

"Call the police if you dad chokes me again"

"WHAT IS HAPPENING?" Sophia asked anxiously.

"Your dad nearly choked me to the point where I almost passed out!"

Sophia's family is pretty messed up, but she loves them. Even if they don't live together.

"GET OUT!" Sophia's Nana yelled from inside the house.
"NO! I'M GOING TO BURN THIS HOUSE DOWN!" Her mother yelled back. Sophia could already tell that this was a fight that she started. The fight is about how her mom said that she disowned her. She walked down to the creek in tears. It is her happy spot. Sophia takes pictures, lays and reads against the trees, and feels connected to the nature. She loves going there. Sophia pulled out her phone and the white piece of paper that contains Max's phone number. "RIIIIIING, RIIIIIIING, RIIIN...." The ringing stopped, due to the fact that he answered.
"Miss me already?" Max asked jokingly.

"I wanted to talk." Sophia choked on her tears.

"Are you okay? Why are you crying?" Max was worried.

"I'm not okay. My mom and my Nana are still fighting. This morning my mom and I got into a fight. She ended up saying that she is disowning me. I left the house crying and started my way to school. I walked up to my Nana's house and she was yelling at my mom to leave. My mom refused and said that she was going to burn the house down," Sophia explained her story. Max couldn't help but get mad. Max hung up because of the anger. He wanted to kill her family so she didn't have to feel that pain. Max was also known for acting on his emotions.....
