Starks hand moved slowly beneath mine, and his eyes slowly fluttered open. Immediately, he jumped straight up in the bed. His eyes darted around the room and faintly glowed that dark musky red.
"Stark." I say, squeezing his hand. "It's okay. Your safe."
The red glow began to fade from his eyes. "Are you okay? What happened? Did I kill that witch?"
I look down, disappointed to tell him he had failed. "No, you did not. The arrow bounced off of him and back to you." Tears welled up in my eyes.
"What are y'all still doin here?" Stevie Rae places her hands on her hips and looks at my circle. "Give Z and her warrior some privacy!"
I was so thankful for my best friend, as everyone cleared out of Stark's room.
"I thought I was going to loose you." I cry and threw myself into his arms.
"Its okay baby, its okay. I'm here." He whispers into my hair softly.

I was so thankful to be starting school on a Friday, after class. I had all weekend before my first class.
Shaunee had given me the full tour, she talked a lot but she was really nice and we seemed to really connect. Vampyres really weren't as scary as I had imagined.
Zoey was though. Her tattoos made her look exotic and strong, and more than a little intimidating. She seemed nice enough as she spoke, but all the power radiating around her frightened me. Why couldn't Shaunee be my mentor instead?
Shaunee had to leave me right outside my dorm room, she received a call and left. I stood outside my door a moment, my heart racing to meet my roommate, but when I open the door, nobody else is in the room.
One side of the room seems pretty blank, a small bed and nightstand, a dresser and a desk.
The other side of the room is identical, but heavily decorated with poster such as My Chemical Romance and Black Veil Brides. Everything on that side of the room seemed to be black.
Great. My roommate is a Satan worshipper. I sigh and sit on the edge of the almost bare bed.
I was already planning my escape. While I was smiling and talking with Shaunee, I was also scouting the campus for easy escape routes. Their was a big tree my the wall, I could easily climb that and up the wall and be out of here. I needed to get Ryder. I promised to keep him safe, he won't last one night out there without me. The thought of him starving made my bones shudder.
I pretended to be asleep before my roommate got home, and laid in bed until the sun came up. Slowly and quietly, I slipped on my tennis she's and headed out the door. I walked downstairs to the lobby and was thankful nobody was in there so I headed out to the wall.
The tree was easy to climb, but I didn't even get half way up when I heard a voice.
   "You can't run away."
I turn to see Zoey and Shaunee watching me and climb down.
"We can read your mind." Zoey explains to me. "Just bits and pieces of course. And you can't leave, did you know you would die if your not around adult vampires?"
I shook my head, truly surprised. I didn't know much about vampires.
"You don't understand." I beg her. "I have to leave now. I can't leave Ryder."
"Who is Ryder?" Shaunee asks me.
   "My 5 year old brother."
