The sunlight filtered through the blinds and a silhouette swayed from side to side vanishing when Sophie's eyes fluttered open. Swinging her legs to the side and bouncing off her bed into her warm, fluffy Hello Kitty slippers, Sophie looked at herself in the mirror, thinking about how ugly she was. Sighing, she combed out her long, bouncy, waist length, mousy brown hair and put in her clear contacts over her gem green eyes. "Just a touch of makeup!" She giggled as she layered foundation onto her perfectly clear face, then using half her lipstick on her lips. To finish her look she brushed bright pink blush over her cheeks and applied fake eyelashes and mascara to them. "Almost forgot!" She looked down at her eyebrow kit and spent half an hour lining and colouring her eyebrows before finally running down to breakfast, already late for school. Sophie's mom, Barbara, scowled at her daughter and slammed the cereal box, bowl and milk onto the table. "Eat and we'll get going, I guess I have to drive you to school, again!" Sophie rolled her eyes then slowly ate her breakfast, quickening her pace when her mom snapped at her to hurry up, she quickly shoved the bowl into the dishwasher, picked up a few dollars then ran after her mom, grabbing her bag along the way, then jumping into the car.
"Thank you!" Sophie smiled, kissing her mom's cheek before swinging open the door, leaping out and slamming it back again. Sophie rushed to the gates where her friends were taking selfies and giggling, waiting for Sophie. Amy, Sophie's best friend screamed in excitement and pulled Sophie into a hug "Boo! What took you so long, you look great today!" Sophie smiled and flicked her hair behind her shoulder "Oh, just my parents begging me to help my brother, again!" She lied. The other girls huffed and rolled their eyes, quietly cursing Sophie's brother. Sophie smiled at Amy "But it's all ok now, so let's get going!" Everyone nodded and they linked arms, skipping down the path to reception, but when Abigail checked her watch it read 9:30, so they rushed down the path, charging into reception to get their late pass. After a while of signing their names off the girls were let in and they all separated to their classes. Amy was with Katie, Abigail was with Lucy and Sophie was left with Cara and Becca. After saying their good byes they all went to their classrooms, giggling and making jokes along the way.
The silhouette from the morning appeared again, and this time it was at the school. It's furry hand reached to the window and slowly slid down it, making squeaking noises. When it saw Sophie glance over to the window, it dipped down, holding it's breath, and slowly walked around the perimeter of the school. The noise of bones crunching broke the silence and the fur soon shrunk away, a light lit up the figures face, and the features were more clear now. It was a boy. A boy who had ruffled dark brown hair, and twinkling green eyes. The boy walked to the reception, straightening his jacket as he walked in, the receptionist smiled at him, giving him a polite nod. "Are you a visitor?" She said in a sweet voice. The boy shook his head "Actually, I'm new here, my name is... Alex!" Alex laughed nervously. The receptionist did a sickly sweet smile and tapped in the name, Alex, to her computer. "And your last name?" Alex's eyes clouded with worry then he spoke up "Sandwich?" The receptionist tilted her head in confusion "What was that?" He coughed, looking the receptionist in the eye, then glancing at his feet. "Smith, yeh Smith!" The receptionist eyed him warily then tapped in his last name, after a while of searching, she found his schedule, printed it off and slipped it over the counter. "If you need me, my name is Yolanda." Alex nodded and pushed open the doors then looking down at his schedule, hoping to be in a class with the girl he dreamed of every single night. "Science..." Alex walked through the corridors, repeating the word under his breath, with his head down. Suddenly, he bumped into someone, Alex glanced up stumbling for words "S-sorry I didn't mean to-" When he looked up, he saw the girl, who was smiling at him, oh how wonderful that smile was. "It's ok! Are you new here? I've never seen you around." Alex nodded, trying not to embarrass himself. "Uh, yeh right now I'm heading to f26?" Sophie's eyes lit up "Well, come with me! That's the exact class I'm in!" Alex nodded, finding it hard to contain his excitement, as he followed the girl down the corridor, he found the silence getting more and more awkward. Sophie coughed, slowing down slightly. "I'm Sophie by the way!" Alex grinned, such a perfect name.
"I'm Alex! You have a really nice name by the way, it's really beautiful, like you..." Sophie flushed red, hiding her face by walking ahead again, she laughed uncomfortably. "Y-you're just saying that!" He shook his head, matching his pace with hers. "No it's really nice!" He patted her back and she dipped her head down, stopping at a door. "Well, we're here now, time to learn!" Sophie cheered sarcastically.
