The Train

Nicole enjoyed the solitude of her cabin. She didn't have any friends...and she didn't really mind it. Well, she had one friend but he was on another part of the train. She wanted to be separated from him now. She couldn't wait to get to the Hufflepuff common room. It was always quiet there. She could think.

All of a sudden, a girl with long, messy brown hair and blue eyes slides open the door. "Mind if I sit with you?" The girl didn't wait for a reply, she sat down on the other side of Nicole. "I'm Andromeda, but you can call me Andy." Nicole said nothing. It was a mixture of shyness and shock. Andy pulled her hand back awkwardly and got situated in her seat.

The door swung open again, much to Nicole's dismay. A boy with light brown hair and grey eyes leaned his head in. "Can I join you two?" Unlike Andromeda, the boy waited for a reply. He sat beside Andy once she allowed him in. "I'm August. Nice to meet you both." Andy shook his hand but Nicole was far too shy to shake his.

Andy and August began talking excitedly. He was a Ravenclaw and she was a Gryffindor. They eventually turned their attention to Nicole. "Are you deaf or something?" Andy asks, trying not to sound too rude. August nudges her with his elbow. "She meant that in a nice way." He assures Nicole while glaring at Andy. "My name is Nicole." She mutters just loud enough for them to hear. August smiles at her, his grey eyes catching the light perfectly. "It's nice to meet you Nicole. Mind if I call you Nikki?"

After two hours, the three of them were on the subject of the QuadWizard Tournament. One student from each house was to be chosen to compete. It usually didn't work this way but Headmaster Dumbledore had decided to shake things up. Andy and August were talking about entering. Nikki on the other hand, wasn't as eager to sign herself up for something so dangerous.

"I'm going to put my name in! I think it'll be fun!" Andy cheered, quite excited at the thought of being a champion. "You'll die." Nikki spoke quietly but quickly. August and Andy looked at her as if she were crazy. "If not that, then you'll get hurt...a lot." Nikki continued. "Well then we'll both get hurt." August came to Andy's defense. "I'm putting my name in too. And who knows...we may not even make it in."

Nikki sighed with annoyance as she straightened her posture. "Oh believe me, you'll make it in. All three of us will." The two of them tilted their heads simultaneously in confusion. "Well someone has to watch your dumbasses in the tournament. I guess I'm the dumbasses who has to watch your dumbasses." They couldn't help but smile a bit at Nikki's comment. August on the other hand wanted to know how she knew.

"You're a Seer aren't you?" If Nikki had been drinking something, she would have spit it out. No one ever figured it out that quickly. If they ever got curious she'd say that she just had a hunch. "You are! I knew it!" August clapped his hands in triumph. "I never said I was..." Nikki tried to defend herself. "Honey...you look like a tomato." Nikki sighed in defeat.

"You don't have to be ashamed. Watch this!" Andy smiles and as she did, her hair turned from brown to purple. Nikki and August's mouths dropped open. "You're a metamorphagus!" Nikki and August say in sync. Andy giggled and turned her hair back to normal. "Guilty as charged!"

The rest of the ride, the three of them got to know each other a bit better. August lived with his father, whom he hated. Andy lived with her grandmother. Nikki lived with Aunt Denise. Little did the three of them know that that train ride would seal a friendship that would last a lifetime.
