Mother Forbids (an emo love story) [ON HOLD]

Chapter 6

Jesse sat up and stretched. I watched as his muscles rippled underneath his skin. Shaking my head, I looked away.

"Are you alright, Claire?"

"I'm fine," I snapped at him.

Looking at the clock, I saw that it was 7:30 and school started at 8:00. I walked down the stairs and slung my bag over my shoulder.

"Claire! Damn it, where are you going?" Jesse yelled down the stairs.

He stumbled down them buttoning his jeans and his shirt halfway on.

"I'm sorry, Jesse. I can't do this."

"Do what? Claire, just stop walking away from me and sit down, I have no idea what you're talking about."

"I have a boyfriend, Jesse."

He looked confused as he pulled his eyebrows together in a frown, "Um, okay?"

I laughed quietly, "You obviously don't get it. I'm in a committed relationship." I pulled my shoes on. "I need to get to school, please don't talk to me."

He was quiet for a second and then everything clicked and as I was walking out the door he spoke.

"Claire! We didn't have s-"

His voice was cut off as I slammed the door and walked to school.

I got to school and putting my books in my locker, I slammed it shut. I needed to find Zale and tell him what happened. Even if I do hate him, I'm not a cheater. I can't believe I slept with Jesse...

Zale was probably with Tristan over by Emily's locker. I started walking over there and found Tristan.

"Hey Tristan, do you happen to know where I can find Zale?"

"Uhm...I think he went to take a leak?"

Great...he was in the bathroom.

"Thanks."

I walked over to the boys bathroom and waited for Zale to come out.

Zale came out and I grabbed his arm.

"Zale. We need to talk."

"Okay, talk."

I glanced around, "Somewhere private."

He looked around too and pulled my arm along with him into the Janitor's closet.

"Alright Claire, what do you need to say to me so badly?"

I swallowed and took a big breath, "I'm breaking up with you, Zale."

His face fell, "What? Why?"

I looked away and turned to leave the room, "I cheated on you."

Then I left Zale in the closet and walked down the hallways to my locker.

I didn't feel like facing Jesse and Zale at all today so I grabbed my stuff out of my locker and walked to the park.

Lately since my father had started to beat me, I spent a lot of time at the park. It was quiet and I could think.

Suddenly rings burst out from the speaker of my phone, ruining the silence.

I looked at the screen. It was Zale, who I didn't want to talk to. I turned my phone off and sat on a swing.

A few hours passed and I was getting bored so I grabbed my headphones from the bottom of my bag and plugged them into my phone. Since I turned my phone off, an unknown number has called me 6 times, Zale called 3 times and texted me 7 different messages.

My phone started to ring again, so I answered it.

"God damn it, Zale, I broke up with you because I fucking cheated on you! I don't want to fucking talk to you okay? Can't you get a god damn hint when I didn't answer the first 3 times??"

"Claire? This isn't Zale. It's Jesse, bu-"

I hung up the phone. I didn't want to talk to Zale or Jesse. I decided to call up Alison to see if I could stay over.

I went over and sat by a tree as I waited for her to come pick me up. It was 6:30pm and dark out already.

It was a really stupid idea but I didn't want to wait alone at the park so I started to walk towards Alison's.

The chilly air nipped at my neck and I pulled my coat tighter around me. A car pulled up beside me and I turned to face it, thinking it was Alison. It wasn't.
