I looked up at my mum. She just bursted into tears and my brother went and comforted her telling her everything would be alright.
Would it?
I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that I was now an amputee. How was I going to cope? Could I carry on with my football? Could I even walk for that matter? All these questions buzzed around in my head. My breathing became heavy as I began to panic. The heart monitor began to beep and the nurse came rushing in.
" she needs sleep please can you leave and wait outside" the nurse said with an angered tone in her voice. My mother rushed out still in tears and Adam waved goodbye as they walked out of the room. My mother was being a bit over dramatic. As always I suppose. My mother loves a good bit of drama as most middle aged women do. But not if it concerns her. The amount of friends she has gone through is ridiculous. It's what I should be doing. But I'm sat here in this stupid bloody bed doing nothing. I just wanted to move but my eyes were too tired. I lay back down and my eyes slowly began to shut as I floated off in to a sweet slumber.

3 weeks later

It is the day of my first physio- therapy lesson. It's been three weeks since I found out about my leg. I've slept most of the time due to my medication but I'm finally off it! The man, I think his name was Dr Paige, is supposedly going to help me walk on crutches. The doctors and nurses told me I should have a wheelchair until I'm ready to have a prosthetic leg. But of course me being the stubborn girl that I am I refused. I told him it's not going to ruin my life only having one leg and I'm just going to have to run with it. My mum wasn't happy but Adam was proud. I was sat in the hospital bed reading waiting for my mum to arrive. Once I'd had my first lesson the doctors said I could leave. I was over joyed. But I'm having an issue with clothes. The whole one leg thing is annoying as I can't wear jeans anymore. Luckily it's the summer and for once in England it's actually pretty hot. I got given a light blue skirt with a white lacy vest on the top. My converse on my foot. It's weird now. I only going to ever need one shoe. All these little things you don't realise when this sort of stuff happens. I laughed to myself. The door opened and my mum walked in with that bloody wheelchair.
" what are you laughing at?" She asked smiling to herself. If she was happy, I was happy.
" oh nothing" I said putting my book in the big duffel bag on the end of my bed.
" are you ready to go?" She asked picking up the duffel bag and throwing it over her shoulder.
" as I'll ever be I suppose" I said sighing. I shuffled over to the edge of the bed so my one leg dangled over. Adam walked in smiling.
" would madam care for some assistance" he asked in the best French accent he could do, which may I add was bloody awful, and took my hands. I giggled at his comment. He lifted me up using my hands as I used my one leg to hop over to the wheelchair. All that hard work at my football training really paid off as I can use my one leg pretty well from all the muscles I've built up. I got into the wheelchair and was wheeled out to the car.
We arrived at the centre about and hour later. I fell asleep in the car so I was still a bit dazed getting out. My hand hadn't gripped Adams hand properly and I slipped falling to the floor by the side of the car and the wheelchair.
" oh my god I'm so so sorry Amber" Adam said panicking.
" it's fine Adam it was my fault " I said as I dragged myself up onto the wheelchair. They wheeled me into the building and we waited for my appointment. A young man came out and shouted my name. My heart rate increased slightly as my mum began to wheel me into the room. As she placed me next to the long black leather sofa that her and Adam sat on. The young (and attractive) doctor sat infront of us on a spinny chair.
" hello Amber and family my name is Ryan" he said shaking Adam and my mothers hands and then moved a bit further across to shake mine that by now was covered in sweat. He smiled gently at me which made me blush even more. Adam elbowed my side and gave me the " he's to old for you" look. That made my bright red blush deepen.
" so, I'm going to be the nurse that will help you to pretty much walk again, until we get you your prosthetic leg, don't panic I won't bite I will just need your cooperation when I'm helping is that ok? I will be assisting the doctor when he comes in" He said to me. I couldn't speak, the words had left my mouth so I just nodded in response. The doctor then walked in. He looked a lot like Ryan so I'm presuming that was his father. " hello all I'm sure Ryan has introduced himself, I'm  Doctor Paige, Ryan is my son who is helping me at the moment, I think you two are of similar age" he said pointing at me. Ryan just looked at me and smiled sweetly making my heart flutter.
"  ok so we are just going to get you standing today just so I can see what kind of barriers we will have to cross" again I nodded. My mother came rushing round holding her hands out to me.
" mum I want to do it myself, I'm not going to have you with me everywhere helping me get out of this stupid thing so let me do it myself please" I snapped, she looked a bit shocked but said nothing and sat down. The doctor put a zimmerframe Infront of me. I put one hand on it a first as I used it to keep my self steady. The other hand was now placed on the metal bar infront of me as I began to pull myself up. It took a good two to three minutes before I completely stood up. Ryan's smile was even larger by now as he placed his hand onto mine and winked at me, making me blush even more.
" well done Amber I'm impressed. For a girl of your age you shouldn't be able to do that" Dr page said extremely shocked. Ryan came and stood next to me. " it's the football" he whispered into my ear making me giggle slightly. How on earth did he know about my football?

My mother and the doctor stayed to talk about my condition and what was going to happen blah blah blah. Adam left saying he had to go to his girlfriends house. I was sat in my wheelchair by the car playing angry birds on my phone. Adam knew I didn't want to stay and talk to the doctor any longer so he wheeled me to the car and told me to wait until mum came out. Angry birds is the only entertainment I have now.
" assholes" I shouted at my phone and I heard a low chuckle from infront of me. I lifted my head up and Ryan was stood there laughing.
" how long have you been stood there?" I asked.
" for about 5 minutes while you've sworn at those poor defenceless birds" he said chucking again. I gently shoved his arm. He walked around the back of my wheelchair and began to push me to the opposite side of the building.
" uh where are we going?" I asked nervously.
" well I wanted to take you to lunch, I believe we go to the same school. So I'd like to get to know you" he said to me. My heart began to beat faster.
" uh....o....ok" I said nervously.
" please do not worry I won't hurt you" he said gently calming my nerves instantly. We went to a small cafe by the doctors. It was quite and cute. We both entered and sat at a small table in the corner. My palms began to get sweaty.
" just ignore them sweetie, you're beautiful just the way you are" he whispered in my ear as he removed a chair and moved me in its place. People began to stare and mutter under their breaths but I tried to ignore them.
" so Amber let's play a game" Ryan said slurping on the large chocolate milkshake we were sharing.
" ok" I replied.
" it's called ten questions, I ask a question and we both have to answer it, we have ten questions each" he mumbled taking another sip from the milkshake. Oh boy this should be good!!
