Happy, Happy, Happy (John Luke, Duck Dynasty)

Chapter 4

*John Luke POV*

I woke up and checked my phone and saw that it read 10:43 a.m. I looked around me and everyone was still asleep in Madi and Brantley’s movie room. I looked down at Madi thinking how cute she was when she was sleeping when I saw her eyes begin to flutter open.

“Good Mornin’ Beautiful” I told her while she just looked up at my sleepyeyed.

“Uhh Hi. Did we fall asleep during the movie last night?”

“Yea, looks like we weren’t the only ones.”

“Well since we are the only ones awake why don’t we head up to my room that way we don’t wake anyone up?”

“Ok” I said a little faster than I probaly should have.

We unwrapped from each other and headed up to her room. Once we got up there I looked around at how bare her room was. Only her bed was set up and everything else was in boxes.

“I know my room’s a mess. I haven’t really had time to set it up.” She told me.

“Do you want me to help?” I asked her.

“Sure!” She replied back happily.

“Ok do you want to paint any walls?”

“Yea, I wanted to do a pink wall, and another wall with chalkboard paint.”

“Ok, well my truck is at Mamaw Kay’s so why don’t we head over to the hardware store and get some?”

“Alright” She said. We walked out of her room and down the stairs and out the door. As soon as we were out the door I slipped my hand into hers. She just smiled up at me. Madi was probally 5 inches shorter than me so it was cute.

*Fast forward to when they are back from the hardware store*

*Madi POV*

“I want the wall with my window pink, that way when people walk in they see it. And then I want the wall with my closet chalkboard paint.”

“Alright” John Luke replied sweetly.

We layed down plastic on my floor that way we wouldn’t ruin the hard wood. As soon as that was done I began painting the pink wall and he began with the chalkboard wall.

“Can I be the first to sign you wall?” John Luke asked with a smile.

“Sure thing” I told him.

Once we were done painting we began setting up my dresser, which was really boring.

“I have an idea!” John Luke blurted out.

“Fascinate me.” I replied.

“Let’s play 20 questions that way we can get to know each other better!” He said excitedly.

“Alright, you start.” I told him.

“Ok, where are you from?”

“Napa, California. How old are you?”

“17. you?”

“I’m 16” I  wonder if he would ever like younger girls. I mean he does have Emily. “Do you hunt?”

“Of course! Have you ever hunted?” He asked.

“Yes! I love it! We will have to go together sometime.” I told him.

“Yes. Soon.” He said with a wink.

“I have a question.” I told him.

“Shoot.”

“Why are you all flirty with me if you have Emily?”

“Oh um.. well um.. I don’t really like Emily. Our parents made us go out, and she is just a stuck up bitch.” He said. (I bet Emily is nothing like this, just pretend for story purpose).

“Ohh, then why don’t you break up with her?”

“I probaly will because there is this other girl..” He told me.

“Who?” I asked sadly.

“Well she has blonde hair, green eyes, and her name starts with a M.”

“Me?”

“Yes silly!” He said while laughing.

“Oh well you aren’t that bad either.” I told him with a wink.

“Oh I know.”

“Ooh getting a little cocky there aren’t you?”

“No. Maybe.” He laughed. “You know what I’m going to go break up with Emily right now.”

“You don’t have to..”

“Don’t worry babe, I want to.” I blushed at the word babe.

He left the room, and thought to myself how lucky I was. I am just a normal girl from a small town in California who has an obsession with Duck Dynasty. And now I am in my room flirty with one of the hottest guys on the show.

*John Luke POV*

I walked out into Madi’s hallway and dialed the all so familiar number of Emily.

“Hey babe!” She answered cheerily.

“We need to talk.” I got right to the point.

“What’s wrong babe?”

“I need to break up with you. This isn’t working.”

“It’s cause of that stupid blonde haired bitch isn’t it?”

“One she is not a bitch, and two her name is Madi. And three she is way nicer than you.”

“Whatever, I have always had my eye on Reed. I need the money so I gotta stay in the family.”

“Pathetic.” I told her and immediately hung up the phone.

I walked back into Madi’s room and saw that the dresser was done and I explained the conversation to her as we hung up her clothes. Once I was done telling her she immediately ran over and gave me a hug. God she smelt good. I just wrapped my arms around her waist until she decided to pull away.

“It will be alright JL.” She said as she gave me a kiss on the cheek.

I blushed. “JL?”

“Yea I thought you needed a nickname!” she said with a smile.

“Alright then you shall be Mad.” I said.

“Ok!” she said with a smile.

Once we were done putting all her clothes away we both immediately collapsed onto her bed. I sat up and looked at her and said “Madi, I really um like you. And I was um wondering if you wanted to um go on a date with me?”

“Of course I will nervous boy.” she said while laughing.

“Ok I will pick you up around seven?”

“Ok” and with that we said our goodbyes and I headed out.

*Madi POV*

I looked at my clock and it was already 5, I went and hopped in the shower with the biggest smile on my face. I couldn’t wait for tonight!
