Carl Grimes was sitting on the couch, all alone, on Christmas eve. His boyfriend, Ron, was supposed to be home a few hours ago from work.

As Carl glanced around at the warm fireplace, at his Christmas themed pyjamas, and especially at the presents underneath the Christmas tree, he couldn't help but wonder why his boyfriend wasn't home yet.

He started to go through all the possible situations that could be happening to his Ron right now. Even the stereotypical one, the "Christmas Eve car crash."

But what worried him the most was that Ron was supposed to be home hours ago, and he would have told him of he was doing something after work.

He left saying, "Bye, Carl. I'll see you later, okay? Love you."

Carl always worried about stuff, but mostly about Ron. Especially because tonight was Christmas Eve, and him and Ron ALWAYS spent Christmas together. It was one of their favourite times of the year.

Carl looked at the clock. It was 5:45pm. Ron left at 9:00am. Eight hours. He really missed him, and he should have been home already.

"Enough is enough," Carl said, as he dialed Ron's number on his phone.

Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring.

"Hi, this is Ron. I, uh, I'm not available at the moment, so just leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can."

Beep.

"Babe, it's Carl. I'm really worried about you-" Carl started to say, but Ron picked up.

"Carl? Are you okay?" Ron asked. Carl sighed in relief.

"Where are you? It's Christmas Eve and I'm worried." He said. Ron sighed.

"Look – I'm okay. Don't worry. I should have called you earlier to say that I got off early and that I was doing something, but I've been really busy and I haven't gotten the chance. I'm sorry."

"What are you doing?" Carl questioned.

The line went silent as Ron tried to think up some cover up, but he couldn't lie to his Carl. Ron had bought the best gift ever for Carl, and he was just doing some last minute touch ups to make sure it was absolutely perfect.

"Something really important, but I can't tell you. I'll be done in a little bit."

"But ... It's Christmas. You're supposed to be here with me," Carl whispered sadly into the phone.

"I know, I know. But I promise I'll be home soon, okay? I wouldn't miss Christmas with you for the world," Ron told him.

"Baby, all I want for Christmas is you," Wept Carl.

"Look, I know I've missed our dinner, but when I get home we can watch all the Christmas movies you want, okay?"

"Okaaaaaaaay." Carl pouted.

"I gotta go. I'll see you soon, Bye." Said Ron, as he hung up the phone.

Carl waited around for when seemed like hours, but it was really only fifteen minutes. So, he decided to call his house and talk to his dad, mom, and little sister Judith.

"Hello?" Answered Judith. Carl smiled. She was only six years old, and knew how to answer the phone.

"Hi Judy," Laughed Carl.

He heard a gasp on the other end.

"Carl! Mommy, Daddy, Carl's calling! Carl's calling!" Judith squealed.

Next he heard his father, Rick's voice.

"Hey, how's it going? You're on speaker," He said.

"Ah, I'm alright. I'm waiting for Ron to get home from doing who knows what. It's really lonely over here." Carl sighed.

On the other hand, Ron was leaving his friend Mikey and Enid's house.

Mikey and Enid had gotten married a few years ago, and had a little boy, and a girl on the way. Mikey had taken a career in engraving from his home, which Ron was extremely grateful that his friend could do something for him last minute to touch up his present for Carl.

"Ron, stop worrying. Carl is going to flip out, and he'll love it so much. It's perfect," Enid told him.

"Yeah, you're right. I don't think he'd flip out though," Ron said.

"Are you kidding? I bet he'll cry," Mikey laughed.

"What? No." Ron argued.

"I'll give you ten bucks if he does!" Mikey said.

Ron shook his head. "Anyways, I should be going. Thanks again, Mike."

"Is Uncle Ron leaving?" Mikey and Enid's three-year-old son, Derek, said peeking from around the corner.

"Yeah, buddy, I am. Have a good Christmas!" Ron waved.

Derek ran to Ron and hugged his leg, and Ron ruffled his hair.

"Uncle Carl is gonna cry!" Derek said, laughing.

Mikey and Enid's house was only a ten minute drive from Ron and Carl's house, so Ron got home really fast.

"Well, I hope Ron gets home soon, we have to put the cookies and milk out for Santa, so we'll talk soon. Bye Carl, we love you," Lori said.

"Love you guys too, bye," Carl ended.
