I pry open my heavy eyes to find myself surrounded by unfamiliarity.   Instead of being cocooned by the rough hotel sheets,  I am nestled on a couch with a grey rug pulled over my shoulders. Lifting my head slightly off the pillow, I look around to room.  There is rubbish everywhere; empty beer bottles pilled up on benches and tables, half-finished plates of food scattered everywhere and random items of clothing draped over random items of furniture. I see my phone sitting on the coffee table next to me I grab it and check the time

8:30AM.

I vaguely remember Eleanor inviting me to stay the night. Although,  I didn’t have that much to drink last night, I don’t hold a drink very well. Removing the blanket from my body, I realise that I am now wearing some sweats that must belong to El,  some grey pants and a jumper. I slowly stand and let my headache set in. I reach my arms above my head and stretch.

“Good morning, sleepy head” I hear El giggle  from the direction of the kitchen. “I left you some stuff in the bathroom, go take a shower!”

“Thanks,” I reply with a yawn.

I slowly make my way to the bathroom and peel my clothes off as I step into the shower. With the warm water running down my back, I think back to the events of last night. Harry was the first boy I had kissed since, well, Jake. He had been so gentle and caring with me, knowing that I was fragile. It didn’t matter one bit that he was famous. I was crushing on a boy that was sweet enough to melt me. I quickly wash my hair and step out of the shower.

When I walk downstairs, I see that El has already cooked us breakfast. Before me is a giant stack of pancakes.  My stomach growls, and I realise that I’m starving and hadn’t eaten anything since before the party last night.

“Hey! How did you like the party last night?” El asks me as I sit down to a plate full of delicious pancakes with Nutella.

“It was great fun! I met heaps of people! Thank you so much for inviting me” I reply, filling my fork and stuffing it not so gracefully in my mouth.

“You and Harry seem to get along well” She states, staring intently at me as if I will confess a secret scandal to her.

“Yeah, we do. He’s nice, ” I reply, smiling back at her. She seems unsatisfied with my answer, but doesn’t press it any further. I look to my phone which I left on the kitchen bench, and to my surprise it starts ringing. I stretch across the bench and look at the caller ID.

“Casey Bradshore”

“It’s Casey! You better answer it!” El screams in excitement, and I nod in return as I answer the call. “Hello?” I speak into the phone.

“Hey Charlotte, great news! I’ve found you a job that’s very high profile!” She tells me.

“Oh, great! When is it?”

“Today, at 10 o’clock, for a magazine called Teen Now. It’s really big here and usually people don’t get in it unless they are really well known, so this is a big deal for you!” She explains enthusiastically, and I am instantly filled with butterflies and excitment!

“Where do I go?” I ask, excitedly.

“34 Ashton Lane, when you get there ask for a Thomas Hickey. He’s the photographer”

“Thanks Casey, I’ll be there!”

“No problem, text me and let me know how it goes” she says before ending the call.

“What did she say?” El calls from the kitchen.

“I have a job today!” I squeal excitedly.
