~Jazmine~

I walk into the school and down the hall. I hear a scream and I run toward it. I gasp at the sight in front of me. A dead teenager, a beam impaling him through the chest. My hand covers my mouth and I stagger back slightly. Soon enough Anthony comes upon the scene.

"I'll call the police." Is all he says.

In a matter of minutes the school is filled with police and everyone is going back home. School is canceled due to the investigation. I was simply questioned then released.

"Jake, come get me. I can't drive. Have someone come with you so they can drive the Suburban back." I say through the phone.

"What happened?" He asks.

"I'll explain after I get some alcohol in my system, and vistaryl, lots of alcohol and vistaryl." I reply.

"Okay. I'm on my way." He says not pressing the subject.

"I love you."

"I love you too." He replies. I hang up and put my phone in my pocket. I walk out onto the ball field and sigh. I cross my arms and look around.

"You're still here?" Anthony pipes up. I look over at him then look back over the field.

"I don't trust myself to drive just yet." I shrug.

"You and me both." He scoffs. "I have papers to grade anyways."

"I graded as I went along, it was just a pretest anyways. The kids will be ecstatic they don't have school now." I state.

"I bet they are." He nods.

"What's it like, Anthony, being a real teacher?" I ask.

"A real pain in the ass sometimes, but it keeps me on my feet." He replies. "And I thought I told you to call me Tony?"

"And I thought I told you where I stand about nicknames." I retort. I smirk at him. "I'll see you around Tony." I pat him in the shoulder before walking toward the parking lot. Devonté climbs out of the Impala and I toss him the Suburban keys. He gets into the Suburban as I sit in the Impala. I close the door and Jake looks over at me.

"Put your seatbelt on and take off that damn wig." He orders pulling out.

"Not until we're at least two miles away." I say buckling the seatbelt.

"Can you at least take out the contacts?" He glances at me.

"That's gonna have to wait until we get home." I state. I make my eyes glow and look over at him. "Is this better?" I joke.

"Kind of." He smirks. "Okay, we're two miles away. No more blonde." I roll my eyes and take the wig off. I take my hair down and shake it out. "Hello Jazmine, nice to have you back." I laugh at his remark.

"Don't worry, I hate it too, but you gotta do what you gotta do." I shrug.

"You're still not going to tell me until get drunk are you?" He asks.

"Vistaryl first." I reply and open the glovebox before opening the pill bottle. I take two and put it back. "I can tell you more under the influence of alcohol but I'll give it a rough start." I take a deep breath and stare out the windshield. "I got to school and I was going to go to my room. I unlocked the door, but then I heard a scream. I ran toward it from instinct, but I had my guard up. So, I'm following the sound, right? I came up to where I heard the scream and-and there's this girl, she's crying so I go to comfort her until I realize that she's the one who screamed and she's staring at something and whispering oh my god through her tears. So I look to where she's staring and-and there's this kid right? There's this kid and-and he-he's, there's this kid and-"

"You can tell me the rest once you've had something to drink, even though I'm pretty sure where this is going." He says pulling onto my road.

"His body was still warm, if I was just a few minutes earlier- if I was just there a few minutes earlier I could've saved him." I shake my head. "I could've saved him."

"You can't protect everyone, Jazmine, that's impossible. You didn't know it was going to happen. There's nothing you could've done." He soothes.

"He was just a kid- and-and he was so scared I could see it in his eyes. He was just a kid Jake."

"So are we."

"Douglas- he was so calm about it. He didn't show any emotion, he just said he was calling the cops. But he didn't do it, he wouldn't do it like that."

"We'll figure it out eventually, just try to relax for me." He shuts off the car and I take off my seatbelt. He helps me out of the car and closes my door. He leads me inside and I walk upstairs. I take out the contacts and wash the makeup off if my face. I pull my hair up into a bun and put on sweatpants and a baggy shirt. I walk downstairs and sit on the couch. I grab the bottle of vodka and pour some into a glass. I start slow, a few classes then I give up and just chug it from the bottle.
