There and Back Again {On Hold}

John's POV:

karkats acting weird. Ever since we left Dave's house He's been super quite. He didn't say a single word when we were at the park.

Rose had to leave around 4:30 so we walked jade back to hers, cause it was in the direction of our house. We walked through the door and I flopped down on the counch but karkat just stood there.
A couple minutes later his eyes went wide and he ran upstairs.
"Karkat?" I questioned but he didn't hear me.
I decided that if he didn't come down until I went to bed I would check up on him. I'm really worried about him.

Dad went up to get him for dinner but he came back down and said that karkat wasn't hungry.
Around 8:00 I ventured up to my room and decided to pester rose cause we tell rose all our problems and maybe there's a chance kar told her what was wrong.

EB: hey...rose.

TT: yes john?

EB: did you notice that karkat is acting weird?

TT: oh yes I believe he was acting odd today.

EB: do you maybe, know why?

TT: I have a hunch but of course it's personal so I'm not going to tell you.

EB: come on rose! Please? I'm his brother, its my duty to make him feel better and I can't make him feel better if I don't know what's wrong!

TT: john I know you want to make karkat feel better but its his business, if he wants to tell you he will and you need to respect that.

EB: I guess your right...I'll talk to you later rose. Bye!

I sighed and looked at the time in my phone.

11:21.

I went over and put on a conair sleeping shirt and shorts to sleep in.
I walked out of my room and stared at karkat door. It was closed.
I walked over and put my ear against the door. No noise came from it. He might be asleep. I knocked on the door softly. "Karkat?" I whispered. "You awake?"
No answer.

He must be asleep.

Karkat's POV:

it was around 11 when I heard a soft knock on my door. Probably john wondering why I didn't eat dinner. I really didn't feel like talking to him right now. I tried to sleep already and couldn't, not even music helped.
So I decided to just stay up. Don't have school tomorrow anyway. I didn't even plan to go to the park with john tomorrow.

That's when I heard a soft ping come from my phone.

TG: um...hey kitkat.

CG: please don't call me that.

TG: wow...you must be serious. You're not talking in caps and your not cussing.

CG: is it true? Are you moving?

TG: well...yes.

CG: but...I just got here and I...

CG: I just started being happy...

TG: wow KitKat I didn't think you cared so much...

CG: that's the thing. I care too much. More then I should...

TG: wait karkat!

TG: damn it!!!

I broke down. I broke down for the first time in years. I cried my eyes out. I sobbed. I couldn't take it.
Rose was right.
I was certain I was in love with this asshole.

I woke up with the light shining through the window.
I sat up and instantly felt a headache.
I walked out of my room and saw that John's door was closed. He must not be in there. The only Time its open is when hes actually in there.
I walked downstairs. Still no john. And I heard pans in the kitchen so I went in there.

"Oh karkat! You must be looking for john. You were still asleep when he left for the park. He didn't wanna wake you." Mr Egbert said when he saw me in the doorway.
I nodded.
"He didn't leave too long ago, if you hurry you might be able to catch up with him."

I walked back upstairs and threw on some random clothes. And went downstairs, told mr Egbert I was going and walked out the door.

About ten minutes later I was at the park.
John was already there, and to my surprise, so was dave. They were all laughing and having a good time. Everyone exempt dave. He would laugh occasionally but other then that he looked extremely quiet and upset. Probably my fault.

I turned to walk away but as soon as I did,

"Hey karkat!!!" Yelled jade.
"Shit..." I mumbled.
I turned around And waved.
She ran up and hugged me. I found out within the first day of being here that she was a hugger.
"What happened to ya? Why didn't you come?" She asked.
"Oh...um I was asleep when john left." I responded.
She looked confused. "But john left around one?"
"What time is it now?" I questioned.
"Almost 3." She responded.
"I SLEPT FOR THAT LONG?! I ONLY WOKE UP 30 MINUTES AGO!" I yelled.
She smiled, "its ok! Your here now and that's all that matters!" She pulled me over to the group and everyone stared at me. Well everyone except dave. He was staring at the ground.

We spent the rest of the day at the park until the sun started going down. And me and John started home with jade and dave. Jade ran into her house and it was just me john and dave. I trailed behind.
John and dave were having a small conversation when Dave look behind him and at me. We met each other's gazes, well I think we did. Him and his stupid shades!
We lingered there for about two minutes but then he looked back at john and I looked down in embarrassment.

We got home and I turned to go upstairs but I stopped and looked at john.

"Tell dad I'm not hungry..." I mumbled.

I walked upstairs, in my room and closed it.
I know I didn't eat dinner yesterday and I didn't eat anything all day today but I really wasn't hungry...

You can't really be hungry if it feels like your life is decaying away all over again.
