Never Let Go Chapter Two- Buttered Rolls and Pretty Girls

"I'm sorry for ditching you," Lily says, brushing past people to get to me. I sigh."I left, you didn't. I should have just dealt with it and stayed. I has to sit with Galen for the rest of the ride."Lily giggles, much to my dismay."What?" I ask. I'm tired, and my chocolate high has ran out. "They talked about you when you left. Sirius thinks that you're-"

"I don't care to know what Sirius thinks of me, Lily. No offense. And I'm also not one for gossip."Lily nods, then somebody calls her away."See you later, Rowan." She skips off and to the Gryffindor table. It's sad- what with having your best friends be in another house. But I was just too soft for Gryffindor, I suppose. Making my way over to my table, the Ravenclaw table, I decided to sit between two sixth year students.

One of the boys smiles down at me, as does his friend."Rowan," he says. I nod at him then ruffle his blond hair."Rory,"I say."How's your mum?"Even though I'm just friends with Rory, we don't really know each other well."I'm here too, you know."Says Kendal, whose waving his hands in the air. Laughing, I turn and hug him, making Rory give him a glare.

"Students!" A booming voice called out. I jump in surprise and Dumbledore's voice. Rory and Kendal laugh at me. I glare, then turn to pay attention to Dumbledore's yearly speech."Welcome back, and welcome to our new first years."He pauses, and most clap for the newcomers.

"Now, may I remind you that the forbidden forest is, well, forbidden. Do not go in, or you will probably die a slow, painful death."He continues on, but I zone out. It's basically the same speech each year. And it's worse when I'm starving and it takes them half an hour to sort the new first years into houses. Ravenclaw receives twenty newcomers, which was less than last year.

Most go to Gryffindor, as per usual."Well,"Rory says, capturing my attention."I'm ready to eat."He then yawns, stretching himself out and patting his stomach. I roll my eyes; what's with guys being hungry and tired all the time?"And let the feast begin!"Yells Dumbledore. He raises his hands, and our food magically appears on plates and glasses fill up to the brim. I lick my lips in delight.

"I call the thighs!" Kendal yells, collecting some chicken thighs and putting them on his plate. Halfway through the feast, Rory bumps me on my elbow, making my drink spill all over me."What'd you do that for?"I ask, grabbing napkins and dabbing them over my robes."You've got admirers," he says, nodding towards the Gryffindor table. It look over, and a frown comes across my face.

It's Remus, James, and Sirius. Remus is looking at me with curiosity, as he usually does. James has a smirk on his face, and Sirius looks deadly serious(no pun intended). I glare at all but Remus."Well then," I say, pushing my plate away."I lost my appetite."Kendal puts down his fifth chicken leg.

"Can I have your pudding?" I roll my eyes and throw a buttered roll at him. He puts up his hands in protest. "Only joking!" But he picks up the roll and eats it. I'm surprised that he's not overweight; he eats all day, everyday. Kendal has light brown hair that's slicked back, and he has blue eyes. He's short, probably only an inch taller than me. He's also like, 90 pounds. He's also an excellent flyer as well.

If I were to have a crush on anybody here at Hogwarts, it would be Rory McHale. He's got black eyes framed by long dark lashes. He's got dirty blond hair that has a little Superman curl( I watch muggle television and read their comics.), but absolutely no one could match Rory's smile. "You gonna eat that?" Kendal asks, pointing at my half-eaten cake.

I roll my eyes and give him my whole plate. He begins to inhale all the food with a cheerful smile on his face. "You lot seen Yasmin lately?"Rory asks, but quietly. I shake my head no. Yasmin's Head Girl, but she's basically the 'it' girl here. But why not? She's smart and kind, and beautiful as well."No, why?" I ask. Rory shrugs his shoulders.
