Hello people! I wrote this oneshot back in 2006 and it was originally a fanfic. I hope you enjoy it!

=)

Why is it that when we think everything is going perfectly in our lives, when we think nothing could possibly go wrong, when we're the happiest we can be, something goes wrong. One mistake and our perfect lives shatter into pieces. And everything that meant so much to us... are suddenly gone.

"Lexy, what are you doing? Baby, why are you packing? Lexy?" He tried to approach her slowly as she continued to pack her bags frantically. "Lexy... talk to me." He said his voice weary but more frightened as he watched the woman he loves turn to him with tears falling from her eyes.

Didn't he promise her that the only tears that will be falling from her eyes would be ones of happiness? Why does she look so sad, so defeated, standing in the middle of the room in the house they shared.

His chest constricted with emotion and he felt an unfamiliar lump on his throat as he watched more tears fall from his love's eyes. His gaze fell down slowly at the huge suitcase she held.

"Lex baby?" His gaze lifted back to her eyes as his heart pounded rapidly and loudly. "What is this about? Where are you going?"

"I-I'm going a-away, Jason." She took a deep breath and tried to steady her voice. She looked down making her short, brown hair fall in front of her beautiful pixie-like face. She couldn't bring herself to look at his eyes now.

"Why?" The single word was said with a steady, calm voice but clearly filled with sorrow and confusion.

"Jase, I-I'm sorry. I just can't live like this anymore." She said as she wiped the tears away.

"Live like what? Lex, please talk to me. Don't do this. What did I do? Tell me and I'll make it up to you." He pleaded with her as he placed his shaking hands on her shoulders.

"Jase..." She broke off as her voice wavered slightly. She spoke again, her voice stronger. "Do you remember what today is?"

"Lex, what is this about? I-"

"Today's our first year anniversary." When his eyes widened, she went on, "Do you remember the day we met?"

"Lex, baby, I'm so sorry. I-" He felt like his chest is going to explode any minute. He could not believe that he didn't remember it was their anniversary today. He was at the bar celebrating with his friends while she was at the restaurant waiting for him.

Why did he have to forget about something like that? Dammit! He gritted his teeth, angry at himself for having forgotten something so important to him.

"Do you remember the day we met?" She asked again looking at his eyes. Hers were dry and blank while his were of apprehension.

"Yeah." He breathed out and pulled her to him. She stood passively as he pulled her to him tighter. "I asked you what your favorite movie was as a conversation starter. You looked at me like I was an idiot." He forced out a laugh as he drew in a sharp, tortured breath. "Then you said 'Casablanca' and you smiled." He paused remembering how warm her smile had been.

She took a long breath and gave a small, forced smile as she rested her head on the curve of his shoulder. "And then you asked what it was about." She gave a small laugh as she remembered how he gave her a quick, guileless smile.

He pulled her closer to him so that not even a tiny space could be seen between them. "Then you told me the story..."

"About lost love, heroism, and sacrifices... about lovers reunited and pulled apart." She cleared her throat as it suddenly began to waver again. "Then you looked at me and shook your head. Then you said 'No happy ending?' You looked like a little kid hearing a story from his grandmother."
