"Quit moving Lily," her mother hisses in annoyance as she yanked her hair. Lily let out a cry of pain while her mother styled her hair into perfection. It turned out beautiful, but to Lily it was certainly not worth the pain.
Today was a huge day to everyone in the village. It was Alpha King Draco's birthday and the whole village would gather together in the kingdom to celebrate. Only werewolves we're aloud to live in the kingdom, while humans were separated from them and placed into villages. The villages only had small huts for each family to live in. And in Lily's family their hut was quite crowded, considering it included her mother, father, grand parents, and brother.
She didn't mind though, the only time she didn't like it was when it would rain and small raindrops would get into the hut and hit her face while she was sleeping. Other than that, Lily was content with her life, she had nothing to worry about at the prime age of eleven years old.
"I hate when you do my hair, next year I'll do it myself," Lily sasses, crossing her arms over her chest. She placed her hand on her sore scalp that her mother brutally terrorized with sprays, pins, and flowers.
"Quit your whining and get dressed, the carriage is expected to arrive in ten minutes," her mother stated, walking out of the room. Lily didn't have a door to her room, she had a small blanket as a way of privacy. She shared a room with her little brother, though he usually snuck off in the middle of the night to sleep with their parents.
Lily sighed, sliding herself into a long white dress that her mother made her. Lily felt that her mother had only had her so she could be her personal doll to pick and mold her into the perfect daughter.
"Lily lets go! The carriage is here!" She heard her mother yell from the other room. The king sends carriages to the human villages so they don't have to walk their way to the kingdom. Lily walked out of her room and saw her mother in a long elegant maroon dress. She knew this was her mothers favorite time of the year. The only time she'd get to dress up as royalty and look presentable to the King. Lily's grandmother was dressed in a long gray dress that made her look barley over the age of sixty. The men of the family all wore black suits.
The family walked outside of their hut and saw the grand carriage sitting there waiting for them. Their coachman looked completely miserable.
"Any day now, the party starts in twenty minutes. The king doesn't like when his subjects are late," the small smirk on his face almost made Lily think he wanted them to be late, just to face the wrath of the King.
Everyone dashed into the carriage and in no time the coachman was taking off into the woods. Lily felt anxious. This was her first time attending the party. She was too young last year and had to stay home with the other kids. She couldn't wait to see what the castle looked like. This year her brother, Lineal, stayed at his friends hut because Lily would not be there to watch him.
