The shoot lasted for about an hour and a half. I took most of the pictures alone, but some were taking with other models. I thought I looked pretty cute. My hair was teased and I had so much makeup on, I didn’t even look like myself, but my dress was cute. It was a strapless mini dress with a full tulle skirt. Alli left to go help some other model with her photo shoot, so I was forced to talk to other people. I wasn’t anti social or anything, it was just awkward to go up to someone and say, “Hey, I’m the new model!” Weird, I know. Eventually, a girl, whose name was Taylor, came up to me. Her hair, like mine, was also styled oddly. She realized I was new, and gave me some tips about how to impress the photographers. She really wanted me to succeed, and for that I was thankful. With all of the crap going on in my life, I need to more than just two friends.
We walked back to our vanities and sat down. Ironically, Taylor was on my right, and Alli was on my left. Taylor and I were sitting, discussing our shoot, attempting to get some of our makeup off, when Alli walked up... talking to Greyson. I admit, part of me was hoping it was Greyson Chance. But the other part was hoping it wasn’t. It would be SO COOL if I had just met Greyson Chance, but it would be really hard to talk him and not freak out. This guy was the one who helped me through everything, besides Maize, of course. Eventually, he would find out that I was obsessed. Now that was something I would try to avoid for a long, long time. I shook my head trying to get myself to stop thinking about how he would react when he found out…
Before I could brace myself to talk to Greyson, he blurted, “Anna, I need to tell you something”
“Um, ok. Go ahead.” I was kind of scared about what he was going to tell me. Our eyes met, and it was like everything in the world stopped. I forced myself to look away. This was ridiculous. Ya, he was cute, but I wasn’t falling for someone I had just met. He just had nice eyes, that was all. Obviously, considering whom HE is and who I am, he wasn’t falling for me.
All of the sudden he put his hand out. “Come on. We’re gonna go talk… alone.” As he said this, he looked at Alli. He nodded his head and she smiled. I felt so confused, but didn’t say anything. What the hell? I thought. What did I have to lose? I mean, I guess he could be some freaky serial killer, but I wasn’t going to think about that at that moment. I took his hand and let him lead me to wherever he was taking me.
It felt like we had been walking forever. Walking in and out of doors, up and down staircases, through this hallway and that, and finally I got annoyed. “Greyson, seriously I’m in heels could you please just tell me what you wanted to tell me with Taylor and Alli standing there?” he stopped and turned to look at me. He had a guilty look on his face. He had let go of my hand, but I grabbed his, and led him over to a table with two chairs. I sat down and nodded at him telling him to do the same.
. He sat down and looked me in the eye. “I told those scouts to consider you for the new job.” I almost stopped breathing. I hadn’t really earned this. It was all a scam. I got up to leave but he grabbed my wrist. “Let me explain.” I felt the tears coming on, but I sat back down anyway.
“Ok, go ahead but you better make it quick.”
“The scouts came up to me earlier that day and asked if knew anybody worthy of the job. I come here a lot because I know Alli. Cody and I hang out a lot and Alli’s here a lot. He likes to support as much as possible because he’s always touring and working. So when you walked into the bank, I realized you were exactly what they were looking for. I texted the mand told them to get down to the bank so they could meet you. They thought the same thing when I saw you, ‘Perfect’. You deserve this job, and I’m sorry I dint tell you when we met on your walk home.”
I couldn’t say anything. He was right. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for him. As much as I dint want to believe it, it was him I needed to thank for telling the scouts about me. “Greyson, I’m not mad. I don’t think I am at least. I just have one question.”
“Anything.”
“Are you… Greyson Chance?”
He smiled. “Yes. Please don’t freak out. I heard your ringtone, Waiting Outside the Lines. I’m flattered you’re a fan, but ya know who wouldn’t be, I’m freaking awesome.”
I rolled my eyes. “Oh yeah. Who couldn’t love you?” I said, strong sarcasm spilling out of my voice.
He laughed. “Come on. Let’s go back to Taylor and Alli. Hey speaking of your friends, where’s that one girl you brought here with you?”
“Her name is Maize, thank you very much. She’s with Cody.” I laughed. “She’s probably freaking out right now.”
“Big fan?”
“Big is an understatement. More like huge.”
He laughed. “Well, let’s go find her before she passes out from excitement.”
“Wait, I need to do something before we walk all the way back there again.”
He looked at me confused. I lifted my foot up so I could take my heels off. I shrunk five inches, but I felt so much better. Greyson rolled his eyes. “Ya know, those heels make you look like a giant compared to how tall you really are.”
I looked up at him. “What upsets me, is even though I’m tall, you’re taller. With those stupid shoes on I was the same height as you, but now I’m a couple inches shorter.”
He smiled. “You’ll grow… hopefully.” He took off running down the stairs to wherever he was going. I rolled my eyes, and sprinted off after him, one hand sliding down the railing, the other holding onto my shoes. To be honest, it felt like I was in one of those cheesy love stories, where the girl leaps down the stairs trying to find her love , running as fast as she can without tripping over her dress, or falling face first down the stairs. I wish. Right now, it was just two friends playing ‘tag’… or was it?
