Spirit Seeker

Chapter 5

When I woke up my bloody clothes from yesterday lay on the ground. I had a night gown on but decided to get ready before breakfast.

I brushed my hair and put it to the side like I always do and but on my usual attire. I but on my boots and grabbed my sheathed sword. I left the other swords from the battle yesterday on the bed after I fixed it.

I went down stairs after I packed what I had. The house was quit small but I didn't mind. I placed my bag by the door and crept back up the stairs to Zero's room. I knocked but didn't get an answer. I slowly opened the door.

I found him sprawled across the bed, all the pillows and blankets lay on the ground. I laughed to myself. I walked over to his bed and he mumbled, 

"Hmm, go away" and turned his head. I shook him lightly, 

"Come on Zero wake up," I said, but he didn't move. Then I remembered what most kids wake up to. 

"Zero, time to eat." I said and he instantly responded by jumping out of bed and running down the stairs.

I laughed to myself, when he came back, with a killer look on his face.

"Never. Lie. About. Food. Again." He growled then started back down stairs.I fixed his bed and when I went back down stairs I smelled sausage. Zero was eating almost all the food.

"Slow down, your going to throw up" I said and smacked him lightly in the back of the head. I turned to Morsen, "Thank you very much Morsen, we will get out of your hair after this meal."

He nodded and continued frying something on the grill. I sat down and grabbed myself some sausage. Eating it almost whole I was full on my third one. 

"How are you not hungry? I haven't seen you eat in two days!" Zero exclaimed.

"I'm used to it, I don't eat much." I said. Something lightly tugged me to the left. I looked but nothing was there, just an empty living room with a couch T.V. and table. I frowned and felt it again. It was warm, and soft like a fire.

"What's wrong Z?" Zero asked.

"Nothing," I lied.

After we were done eating I headed out to the stables and saddled Kaspara and Boomerang. Then led them back to the house.

"Thank you for the coat, Morsen"

"Not a problem young man." He responded then turned to me, "Aren't you cold?" I looked down at my clothes. 

"No, I never get cold." I said and mounted Boomerang. "Thank you again Morsen" I said and started down the street, Kaspara and Zero next to me. 

"Oh I almost forgot!" Zero said then stopped. He pulled handed my my sheathed knives.

"Thank you," I said and slipped them into my boots. I clicked my tongue and Boomerang started galloping down the path soon followed by Zero. I slowed Boomerang  down then sped him back up so Kaspara could catch up.

Something almost pulled me over my horses head. I stopped, feeling another tug. 

"You okay Z" Zero asked again.

"I'm fine," And went into full sprint towards the tug. What ever it was it's getting stronger by the second. Something deep inside of my growled.

"What the heck Z don't growl at me!" Zero said.

"I didn't growl" 

"Yeah you did, it sounded like a wolf." he protested.

Another tug, and another growl.

"It's coming from you" 

"No its not" 

"Yup"

Deciding I didn't want to rip his throat out I stopped talking and focused on the energy.

Your close to me human, but why do you feel different?

I almost fell off Boomerang.

Your energy is much stronger than the boys, can you tell me why?

"What do you want?" I said and earned a confused look from Zero. I held up my finger telling him to be quite. We were still galloping.

No talk through your mind human, that's how you can communicate with me.

Then who are you? I asked 

You will figure that out once you find me, but hurry. I pushed Boomerang faster and felt another tug slightly to the left. The voice stopped talking, and the pulls kept getting stronger.

"What was that about?" Zero asked, "Your not telling me something."

"Fine, there's something tugging me this way, and someone just spoke in my head. Happy?" I growled at him. 

"Yes actually I am" He hissed back.

Suddenly a tug to the right sent me flying to the ground. Boomerang stopped and trotted over to me nudging me with his nose. 

"I'm okay boy." I said and remounted him, going to the left. 

"Where are we going?" Zero asked, 

"I don't know, but I think the voice is leading me to him." I replied. 

Something threw my head back and I howled. 

"What the heck Z! Stop acting like a wolf!" Zero yelled.

"I'm not trying to!" I shouted back. 

Your shifting.

What do you mean I'm shifting!

You have a spirit inside of you, that is why I can talk to you telepathically.

So I am going to guess it's a wolf?

Yes.

So does it hurt?

I don't know, I've never seen a spirit attach itself to a human

I growled in frustration. Something cracked and I felt something move under my skin. This time I leaped off Boomerang and onto the snowy ground. Instead of my skin touching the ground two large furry paws did. 

Zero looked at me. "Why are you  w-wolf?"

I looked down and sure enough I was a blue wolf. My body was glowing and seemed to fade into thin air.

" I must be a spirit's form" I said but Zero cocked his head.

You can't talk to a human unless you speak the human language.

I tried that sentence again, "I must be a spirit's form" This time he looked at me in confusion

"How?" 

I shrugged or at least tried to.

"Grab Boomerang and lead him by putting the rein on the saddles horn."

He nodded and did as he was told. I ran along side Kaspara on the other side where Boomerang wasn't. I was almost as tall the the horse. The tugs kept getting stronger and stronger until they flattened me to the ground. 

You are right above me, search for a cave

I listened to the voice and looked. A small cave entrance. I crawled in and Zero followed. The tugs slowly showed me what direction to go when there was multiple ways. After the last tug there was a yellow deer shaped spirit, the glow faded into the air like mine.

"Hello, I am Atwell, the spirit of Spring." The deer introduced itself.
