Beneath the thorns

The rose adds colour to the thorns of our heart , but what are thorns ? Are they some ephemeral blade laying siege to a fragile soul, are they just hollow warnings never to get to close. Are they just subtle reminders that you never know how precious something is until you lose it. But..what if...they were her guardians. Just as the heart is the engine to the the soul maybe the Rose is the the anchor. What if the roots gently kept her in place and as she lay waiting , waiting for something or someone to be brave enough and traverse the thorns that lay in her path. What if the only reason our blood was red is because as she lay waiting she was slowly fading away turning into nothingness. And if she were a part of the heart , what would be a part of the soul? Maybe the stars. The stars are more than burning haloes of light and creation their like small pockets of heaven that were to beautiful to be hidden and fought back against the dark backdrop of space. When a star dies their is a hole left behind ...a black hole that devours all the light that it once emitted , just like the pupils of our eyes absorb all light cast on it so to are they considered the windows to our souls. But what about that light when it enters our mind , then what ? Does it lay forgotten like some old star who was wished upon and then forgotten...no , what if just as the Rose needs light to prosper ,so to does this light that enter our eyes cause it to grow. If that was true could we say that the beauty of our soul nourishes the purity of our heart. What is more beautiful then , the heart that houses garden of roses or the eyes that house the stars lending brightness to our souls. Maybe it's both because if beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder then only the light in our eyes can cause the roses in another's heart to blossom.
