They were heading on home at sundown, when a deer jumped out right in front of the car. The car swerved left and right. Ansley, who was driving, could not seem to regain control of the steering wheel. The car hit a side rail and flipped over. The car had flipped over two or three times going down a hill. Tammy wasn't wearing a seatbelt and flew out of her seat. She hit her head off the roof of the car when it flipped for the third time, and she died instantly. Ansley hit her head off the window and went unconscious.

The first ambulance that showed up at the scene arrived at least 30 minutes after the accident. Then came another. And another. And then fire trucks showed up after the ambulances and police had already blocked off the place. They had a helicopter take Ansley to a nearby hospital that was able to help Ansley. They had pronounced Tammy dead at the scene. There was nothing they could do to even try to help her or lifeline her or anything. It was too late. The helicopter took Ansley to the hospital where they had immediately began to work on her and see if anything else was wrong.
