Chapter 5:

Today is Monday and I’m actually going to school. Amanda keeps trying to contact me but I won’t answer. I still care about her but I don’t just re-trust someone that easily. It shows weakness. I will still watch over her and do anything to help her. I am actually a lot weaker than I was Friday. I don’t know why but I feel like I don’t have the strength and power in me to fight or care about anything anymore. I was wearing black shorts, black converse, no sunglasses (I won’t wear them anymore), a black tank top, my hair in a ponytail and I was wearing an extra pony-band thing on my wrist just in case one broke. I hopped on my motorcycle and headed to school.

I walked into the school doors and sat at a table by myself. I started going through my phone when I saw Amanda and the crew, but not close to eachother. Amanda just walked in the door looking like her goody self. I saw the crew smirking and walking up to her. I started to get nervous, but I shouldn’t be. I mean they wouldn’t hurt her right? Austin was her boyfriend and boyfriends don’t do that right? I actually don’t know I don’t really like having boyfriend so I’m kind of still uneasy about this.

I stood up to get a closer view. Everyone in the school knew how Amanda and I aren’t friends anymore so everyone was now looking at me. I stared at the group as they crowded around her. Amanda smiled as Austin came close to her but that smile soon disappeared as everyone got REALLY close. She looked at Austin and he smirked. He stepped forward coming closer to her and slapped her across the face. She fell to the ground and the boys started kicking her in the gut. I just watched the whole thing happening debating what to do.

“I never loved you” Austin screamed. He kicked her again. “I bet you wish Samantha was here to help you, huh?” he kicked her again. I couldn’t handle seeing her like this. I speed walked over there and right as he was about to punch her, I jumped in the way and got hit in the cheek. I stumbled but I didn’t fall. I helped Amanda up.

“Here Amanda” I told her handing her my motorcycle keys. “Go away. Far away. Don’t come back until I come get you okay? Go, now! Go!” I yelled giving her a chance to escape. She nodded quickly and was outside the door. She didn’t go to my bike; she just stared inside the window watching me. I looked at her, then the ground, then the boys. They had smirks on their faces.

“You realize that we won’t stop until we hurt Amanda right?” Alex asked. I knew what I had to do. I looked at Amanda with pleading eyes.

Once I got serious again I replied “no” through gritted teeth. “Hurt me instead” I spoke looking into their eyes. Their jaws dropped.

“What?” they asked confused.

“Don’t hurt Amanda. Hurt me instead. If I promise to do whatever you guys want whenever you guys want, will you leave Amanda alone?” they nodded yes. I silently breathed out an okay and walked out of school. What did I just do?
