*Week 1*

I wake up with Ben sitting on the edge of our bed. I notice he is already in his suit and his usually messy chocolate hair is slicked back. He checks his watch then stands up straightening his sleeves. I slowly follow suit secretly missing his cuddles in the morning. He walks out of our room as if he didn't see me and I follow him to the kitchen. I go to start the coffee pot for him but I realize the coffee is already made. I frown the one thing I get to do for him in the morning was taken away from me today.

"Anna you are in my way," Ben says with little emotion in his words. At least he isn't angry. I move out of the kitchen and I go to brush my teeth. While brushing my teeth I look at myself in the mirror. I am not the same young naive girl I was five years ago. I straighten out my bed head and make my way to the kitchen again to kiss Ben goodbye. I pull a smile out of nowhere before I enter. He isn't there. I run to the living room window just in time to see him pull out of his parking spot. I sigh. He must be late. Instead of letting myself be sad about the state of our relationship I pull myself together and I head to work.

We aren't married Ben has never asked me even though we have been together five years as of next week. We've been dating since our freshman year of college. It just seemed right to move in together after I graduated. Ben is a lawyer which keeps him really busy. I am just a reporter on Channel 12. We are a very happy couple it has just been hard lately. It seems like no matter how hard I try I can't make him happy anymore, and I have tried everything.

I walk into the news building letting the machine read my I.D. before continuing to the news room. Once there I am bombarded with scripts and topics to go over. My boss comes and pats me on the back and sends me to hair and makeup. Once there the girls attack my face and hair making me look presentable. I send them a quick thank you before taking me seat behind the desk in front of the camera. Putting together my notes as I wait for Mia to join me. Mia is my co anchor, and my best friend. It is weird to have two women be anchors but we work so well together the news station literally had to.

We first started working together when she had to cover sports and we just hit it off. The station at the end of the airing got emails, tweets, and even letters telling them to put us as the faces of Channel 12. The rest is history. Mia sits down next to me and hands me a cup of coffee. It is like she can read my mind and can tell that I haven't had any yet. I don't usually need coffee to make me alive in the morning but lately it is one of the only things that keeps me moving throughout my whole day. Mia and I rehearse a little before our boss comes between the camera and the teleprompter, and does the count down on his hands. I take a deep breath before for the second time this morning pulling a smile out of nowhere and beginning the show.

"Good morning everyone! Welcome to today's news I am Mia Hickman and this is Anna Penn First we would like to say that..."

Mia and I clean up our station before leaving the building. She asks me to eat lunch with her but I am supposed to have lunch at home with Ben. So I decline.

"Maybe later this week," Mia asks. I nod before heading to the bus stop down the block from the station. Once the bus comes I take a seat our apartment is three bus stops away from where I work. Ben gets to drive not because where he works is farther away he just had been living in the apartment before I moved in with him, he already had a car, and was paying for a parking spot at our apartment. Once the bus reaches our apartment I take the elevator up to our home and I unlock the door. Once inside our apartment I go to the kitchen and begin making our lunch. I decided to make us some fancy sandwiches and a nice salad. Something for me to waste time doing but fast for Ben to eat. I set our little two person table that sits in the kitchen and I put the food in the fridge. I then wait patiently.

Ben is fifteen minutes late before he calls me.

"Hello," I answer trying not to sound upset.

"Hey Anna I am not going to make lunch, something came up here," Ben says sounding distracted.

"It's okay. Do you want me to bring you lunch," I ask hoping that he will eat something today.

"No I will just have a fast sandwich. Rain check for tomorrow?" He says not realizing how much that hurt me. I say yes and a goodbye before hanging up on him. I take my phone from my ear and throw it on the table angrily. I decide to send him a quick text before pulling our lunch out of the fridge.

     'I love you.'
