After Riley made sure that Adam was at least stable, she went home. She walked into her house, being greeted my giggling and laughter. Delta and Aleah were running as fast as they possibly could through the one story house. The boys sat with Raven on the couch even though they knew that they aren't allowed to be on it. Raven was smiling, a genuine beautiful smile. It seemed like she hadn't almost killed her brother-in-law moments before. Riley watched in awe of how care free Aleah is. One of the girls must have knocked a vase over, because Riley fell to the floor cradling her head waiting for the "bomb" to no longer be a threat. Raven knew what was happening. She told Aleah to stay back, just in case Riley freaked out,and crouched down to hold the soldier. After the initial panic, Riley melted into Raven's embrace. Both women relaxed and subconsciously enjoyed being so close together. Aleah, only being five, took this as a chance to make a dog pile. They erupted into laughter. It felt good to be around someone so young and happy. It was around 6 at night when Raven had to take Aleah home. The problem was,she really didn't want to. Riley didn't want her to leave either. They hadn't talked about what had happened with Adam yet because of the young ears in the room. "Dodah Raven, do we have to go home?"
"Yes my love. Your mom will be home in an hour. Don't you want to be there when she gets home?"
"What about Abba?" Aleah looked concerned about Raven's reaction. Raven stayed calmed and confident. She is a soldier, she is trained not to break under pressure.
"He is at home." Her answer was short, but not harsh. This took Riley by surprise. She saw the anger and aggression that Raven had towards Adam. Raven looked at her,and her she mouthed 'later'. Riley wasn't exactly sure what she was talking about, but figured it was about Adam.
"Raven, where are you staying?" Riley was curious. She hasn't ever heard Raven mention home before.
"An apartment in town. About 5 minutes away if traffic isn't bad."
"Do you want to stay here tonight?" Riley was nervous. After several tours of duty, this was one of the most terrifying things she has ever done. Raven saw the nervousness on her face and in her body language. She smirked. Riley internally groaned. This damn woman!
"I would love too." Raven had an aggravating, but sexy, grin on her face. The women had forgotten about Aleah being in the room until the five year old put her input into the sentence.
"Sleepover? I love sleepovers! Can I come? Please!" The young girl was partially on her knees begging to stay at Riley's. The women laughed, which frustrated Aleah.
"I am not joking! I want a sleepover!"
Raven shook her head no.
"I love you, but no. Another day though. You need to go home and spend time with your parents." Aleah pouted but didn't protest. Raven and Riley agreed that Raven would be back around 7:30. Riley couldn't help but wonder how Raven will keep Adam quiet about earlier. Aleah adored her aunt and would probably do anything for her. Including lying to her mom.
***David House ***
Raven and Aleah walked through the front door and didn't see Adam.
"Abba! Where are you?" Aleah's voice boomed from the entryway. Nothing. Raven thought of the possibility that he died. She enjoyed the thought, but Aleah and Kayla would be devastated. Raven loves the girls and wouldn't want to cause them pain.
"Adam! Are you home?" Again, nothing. Raven knew that Riley had said he was stable. He couldn't go from stable to critical so quickly. She couldn't be the reason her sister and niece were in pain. She knew that she hurt him. But, she is a soldier. If she wouldn't to kill him,he would have died when they were fighting. As she walked through the house she found no sign of him. Shit. Where the hell is he?
