My phone alarm went off at 6:00 and I groaned. I got up out of my bed and looked out the window, no snow. I was really hoping for a snow day but I guess that was a no from Mother Nature.
I walk downstairs and go wash my face and do my makeup, hair, and brush my teeth. Once I got out of the bathroom I went and watched the news while I ate cereal. My mom doesn't get up until my brother has to and since he's still in elementary school they get to sleep in until 7:50. I go back upstairs to get dressed and get my shoes on and lastly I pack my lunch. I grab my army canvas backpack, lunchbox and jacket and head out the door to the bus stop.
The fact that I still have to wait for the bus and can't drive is irritating but I can't do anything about it in the moment so I just shiver and wait for the bus. After what felt like centuries, the bus finally came. I climb on and was thankful for the little bit of heat and walk through the isle and head towards the back of the bus to sit. I pull my anatomy book out from my backpack and do the homework I didn't wanna do last night. Since I was one of the last few bus stops, we pulled into the school in less than ten minutes.
I put my homework away and walk off the bus and into the school. The subtle murmur of the halls filled my ears as soon as I walked in and I headed to my locker. I put my backpack away and grab my things I need for first period. I walk into Katherine who's my best friend and was thankful because the whole morning I was bummed out.
We talked about her prom dress that she got the weekend before, who she was planning on taking and who I was planning on taking, if I ended up going. We walk into first period and begin to take notes on the nervous system. The rest of the day up until lunch went on too slowly for my liking but I'll give you the highlights, I aced my first government test all year, did a presentation on the Salem witch trials in English class, took a test on trigonometry basics in geometry because I'm a year behind in math since I'm not too bright in that department, and finally went to lunch.
I walked with Gabrielle, my other best friend, and go to lunch and sit down and wait for the rest of my lunch table to come sit with us. My table consists of Olivia - makeup guru who is funny and kind of full of herself but we deal with it
Gabrielle - one of my best friends who I met freshman year and has mental health issues, had an abusive boyfriend but is really smart, funny, and just a good soul
Katherine - my other best friend who I've known since kindergarten who is very book smart, pretty, and always knows right from wrong and gives good advice
Nat - a quiet girl I just became good friends with this year who is very very sweet and just a person you always need to have around
Marie, Emma, and Madi also sit at the table but are just acquaintances but I still love sitting with them even though we rarely hang out outside of school. We all eat lunch and talk about certain classes and what we do in them and some of our boy troubles. I currently didn't have boy troubles because I broke up with my boyfriend over the summer and haven't talked to anyone since. My old boyfriend, Jace, was just an awkward encounter now and even though I wanted to be friends, it never happened. He's dating another girl now who is artistic, really really thin, and can sing very well. Just for the record, if he were to ask me out or wanted to cheat on his current girlfriend with me I'd do it in a heartbeat because I miss him that much.
I know I'm a actual piece of trash for saying that but it's true.Anyway, after lunch Gabrielle, Katherine, Olivia and I have an advanced chorus class together and go straight to the music room. Jace and his best friend Mason also have this chorus class which is just so lucky for me. My teacher Mr. Sam was just hired this year and is super young and is still learning how to be a teacher. We're working on our musical that we're preforming in the spring and we started singing the opening number for the tenth time to really get it down.
We sit in sections by voice part in the class. The order goes sopranos by the door, the basses next to the sopranos, the tenors by the basses, and altos on the other end of the risers. Gabrielle and I are sopranos and I sit by Mason on one side and Gabrielle sits on the other. We had fifteen minutes of class left when the lights flickered and the power went out. We all assumed it was the snow flurries and Mr. Sam shrugged it off and gave us permission to use our phone lights to look at our sheet music.
After the class ended and the bell didn't ring Mr. Sam and the rest of the class got a little confused. A few more minutes went by and we all heard a scream from a neighboring classroom. We all immediately got scared and panicked. Mr. Sam looked out into the hallway and saw a group of men in black suits, black masks and had machine guns with them. They were headed to our classroom so Mr. Sam locked the door and asked some of us to help him move a table in front of the door while he called 911. Before we got he chance to grab a table, gunshots were sent into the room and busted a lightbulb on the ceiling.
"Don't any of you make a move and if you talk, I think you can guess what I'll do with this," a large, muscular man told us as he and about fifteen other men walked into the chorus room and held his gun towards us. I looked at Gabrielle and we both gave each other a solemn look. Mason also gave me the same look because none of us knew what was going to happen.
The man walked around looking at us while another man held a gun to Mr. Sam. "Hmm, what do you think boys? Which ones?" The man asks the other men behind him. "I don't know man, they're all about the same," a man behind the first man said. "What do we have already? Two boys?" The same man asked the other men behind him and they nodded in response. "So we need two more and a girl?" and again the men nodded. The man looked right at me and looked at Mason beside me and pointed to him. "This one, he's lanky and has that beautiful skin that the boss asked for," the man said as walked up the risers and grabbed Mason by the arm.
"What about that Asian? Some culture would be good for business," a shorter man said talking about Jace. I looked over at him and he had a look of pure fear in his eyes. The man went to grab his arm and he tried to resist to look tough. "Aww isn't that cute guys? the man said as he smacked Jace across the cheek and he had to comply. The man picking out everyone stared straight at me again and smiled. "I saw you a while ago and just couldn't resist, we'll take you too because I can't leave you behind babydoll," he said to me as he walked over to me and grabbed my arm too. I looked over to Gabrielle and Katherine and started crying because I was so scared.
"Alright sir, if you don't want your kids hurt you'll tell the police that you don't remember what you saw because I knocked you out, if you say other wise we'll kill these three and you, okay?" the man asked. Mr. Sam nodded furiously. The man came around to look at us and gave us all that same creepy smile again. "You guys will please Mr. Calihan," he said walking around to Jace and petting his head.
After a few minutes the man nodded at the other men and I felt a sharp pain in my neck and I can't remember anything after that.
